I have been signed on with Support Kids since 2004. They have yet been able to catch up with my ex-husband and collect regular child support payments for my two daughters. Randomly, maybe 3 or 4 months out of a year, small payments will trickle in. Support Kids claims they have been actively searching for employment information for my ex-husband and they even have the audacity to ask me if I have any current information on him to assist finding his whereabouts. Excuse me, but I am paying YOU to search for that information! If I find current information on my ex-husband, that means I am doing YOUR job! Anyhow, here we are, well into 2009 and I have received just two payments from Support Kids. The last payment received was in Jan. 2009. The last payment before that one was back in, March 2008! 10 whole months have lapsed between child support payments.
When I call or send emails to Support Kids inquiring about the status of my case, they claim the absent parent is no longer employed and they have been unable to locate current employer infomation. Meanwhile, I get absolutely no feedback or updates regarding my case. You would think for the amount of money we pay in fees, that this agency would atleast keep parents updated on their case. Everytime a payment trickles in, Support Kids takes a good chunk right off the top, leaving a frustrating amount for us families. Why do they continue snatching fees from our support payments, when they automatically take a huge amount from the very start of receiving child support? This seems illegal to me and other parents I'm certain. Anyhow, I'm at the beginning stages of taking my case to the local authorities. That way, my ex-husband will be forced to pay child support, I will receive it and never have to pay fees every time a payment arrives. My daughter's will get every penny which is owed to them and won't have to share it with any agency.
If anyone out there is considering Support Kids to collect child support on their behalf, I would have to advice you to run-not-walk in another direction. Parents should not have to continue paying fees every time a payment comes in for their children. Paying a one time fee is reasonable. But, to pay them a fee every time a payment comes in is not acceptable. Especially, if they are providing poor client service. I will do what I can to bring Support Kids and their "Rip Off" service to public attention. If I can stop other parents and their children from being ripped off, that will bring me much satisfaction.
