In 2003, my husband and I bought a membership with Timber Lodge Rv Resort. We also spoke with Jim Jerde. He also told us that if we wanted to cancell this membership at any time, all we had to do was to contact the Timber Lodge Rv Resort.

We have never used this membership at all. I contacted the Timber Lodge Rv Resort to cancell this membership in 2006. I received a letter telling me that we could not cancell untill after the 48 months. So, I tried to cancell this year, 2008, ( well after the 48 months ). I received a letter telling me that we had signed a "Lifetime" membership ! There is nothing in my contract that says "lifetime". I read and reread, and reread this contract,, there is nothing that says "lifetime". I never would have signed a contract that said "lifetime".

O, yes, they will sell our contract for the 399.00 fee ! But, they will also keep all the proceeds of this sale !

We have tried to sell this contract, even tried to give it away ! No one wants this contract.. so we are stuck !

We are retired, and living on a pension. We can not afford to keep this contract. We even told Timber Lodge that we just don't have the money to keep this thing going !

I contacted Timber Lodge as soon as we got the yearly statement, and they chose to wait till after the due date to contact us ! Now, we will be paying extra fees on this.. My husband said that we are not going to be sending them any more money.. We played by the rules, did everything they told us to do.

I see by the one letter that I read, that Jim Jerde said that you have to send a letter to the office in Mn. Well, we did that, and got no response !

We are at our witts end,, and just don't know what to do next !

The only thing that I can do is to file reports to all Better Business Bureaus, and will file reports in all the States were they have resorts.

Membership History from Timber Lodge

I have talked to the people at Timber Lodge about this matter and they have provided the following infomation.

That M/M Arnold purchased a camping contract to their resort in April 2003. That the membership agreement is an industry standard agreement.

That in April 2006 M/M Arnold notified their office wanting to cancel the agreement. That in May 2006 Timber Lodge provided several options. That they made arrangements to have our company resale the membership and effectively terminate the membership. We agreed to guarantee the resale for a listing fee of $399. This included us taking over the membership obligations, advertising, promoting, paying all commissions in connection with the resale. That the resale option provided was not a provision of the agreement but was offered by Timber Lodge in good faith in order to accommodate their request to cancel. That to date none of the options, including the resale option, has been exercised by M/M Arnold.

That once the past due amounts have been satisfied the options are still available, or should they provide a reasonable alternative option they would be willing to consider it.

I was able to gather additional information from Timber Lodge RV regarding this matter. That to date no further response has been received from Jerry or Linda in Coleman, Michigan. That to date, since they became members in 2003, the sum total Timber Lodge RV Resort has received is $545.
