www.freecreditreport.com is not free by any means! I signed up for a "free credit report" that required I give them a debit card number to complete the request. Of course, you can call them and cancel before 30 days and nothing is charged to your account.

YEA RIGHT!!!

Not only have they been charging me, they charged me for every social security number I have used to get my "free report" within that month timeframe and their cancellation policy that is known only by their company is that when a customer calls to cancel the policy, they only cancel the primary social security holder's number, not the account, even though it's being debited to the same account.

When I called and said "cancel my account" the first time, they said no problem. Then, the charges showed up again the next month. I called them and told them AGAIN. they assured me that my account was cancelled. It shows up again, and again, and again...Finally, I told them they need to tell me exactly what they are charging me for and they disclosed that there are two more social security numbers for two different people in my family on there as well.

My response was a series of questions to them. Why is it that when I requested my account be cancelled, you did not do it? Triple Advantage's Customer Service Rep said "it was". I say, why are there still charges on my account after me requesting it be closed 6 times? He said "because you didn't say you wanted to cancel the other social security numbers that are tied to that account." I said "How would I, as a customer know that when I ask my account to be cancelled, adn you said you would do that and it wasn't, that it is your INTERNAL company policy to only cancel the primary social security number?"

Silence for several moments....

I said "I am waiting for your reply"
He said "I see your point".
I said "fine, refund the money you have stolen from me from my checking account and I will be OK with that."
He said "you will have to request that by fax."
I said "Did you request by fax to me that you wanted to steal my money in this manner?"
He said "no, Maam."
I said "I am not faxing you, I am telling you and this is a recorded message for quality assurance or so your automated attendant said."
He said "I'm sorry Maam."

I got the fax number, sent the request, I got a message back on the fax to go to the website to cancel. I was really pissed by then. So, then I got on the website and it said I had no account charges and that my account had already been cancelled and if there were further problems to call the customer service number.

I was furious so I filed a complaint with the better business bureau and notified my banker to see if they could help retrieve the funds because of the fraud.

This company called Triple Advantage has suits and multiple complaints filed against it. BEWARE! There is no such thing as a free credit report at www.freecreditreport.com.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

What the? Why so many Social Security Numbers.

AUTHOR: Robert - Buffalo (U.S.A.)

""www.freecreditreport.com is not free by any means! I signed up for a "free credit report" that required I give them a debit card number to complete the request. Of course, you can call them and cancel before 30 days and nothing is charged to your account.""

On their home page, it clearly states that you have to cancel within 7 (seven) days. I don't know where you got the idea you had 30 days. Further, on the page (step 2) where you have to enter credit card information, you are reminded that you must cancel the trial membership for the credit report to be "free." They further instruct you to use www.annualcreditreport.com to obtain the free credit report you are entitled to by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Now to more important matters.

""Not only have they been charging me, they charged me for every social security number I have used to get my "free report" within that month timeframe and their cancellation policy that is known only by their company is that when a customer calls to cancel the policy, they only cancel the primary social security holder's number, not the account, even though it's being debited to the same account. ""

Did you have permission to run a credit report on the other SSNs? Do you know that you must have permission from the person the SSN is assigned to run a credit report?

How many social security numbers do you use?
