Fry's Electronics Refusal to honor legitimate price match guarantee San Marcos, California

Bought an iPad at Fry's, I felt safe with their price-match guarantee. Understandably, they said their policy requires the competitor to have the product in stock (presumably to avoid ridiculously low prices sold out by the stroke of midnight during Black Friday). So lo-and-behold we found a cheaper iPad ($50 cheaper) at Best-Buy during a four day Thanksgiving Sale. Plenty of inventory in stock. Fry's said they do not match "Thanksgiving sales." way to pick and choose Fry's! It's not like this was a Black Friday sale where only 5 items for sale at that price. This was a 4 day long sale, plenty in stock. I'll never set foot in Fry's again. Seems like a catch-22, they'll honor the price match, unless the price is lower than theirs!

How soon after you bought the Ipad did the Best Buy sale begin? How long is the grace period offered by Fry's, in writing, or signage, for getting price match refunds? What exactly, in writing or signage, are the terms governing their price matching?

I disagree "with voiceofreason's post, my original report gave enough relevant information. To answer your questions, the sale began within 3 days of my iPad purchase, and I was told I have 15 days (this question is irrelevant though because this is not the reason I was declined). My wife attempted to get the price-match policy in writing, but on the phone Fry's said they don't even have the policy in writing. So, all we have is word of mouth from the Fry's employees, and they told me that as long as the competitor has the lower priced item IN STOCK we will receive the difference. This was the important point that they stressed, it had to be in stock. Look man, a price-match policy shouldn't require me to lawyer-up and read pages and pages of fine print. Fry's makes up the fine print as they go along anyway, and refuse to honor the policy they talk about in the store - which is enough to turn me away from Fry's forever. Spread the word about Fry's!
