I too felt like I was at a used car lot and that the employees went not very knowledgeable. Purchased one of there hd cables and it seemed very high priced was told by sales person that it was very good quality. Ok I'm no expert. That same day was in (((competitor's name redacted))) and noticed a very similar cable same size length, Gold tips and all for half the price at a savings of almost $40.00 dollars.
I returned HHgregg cable the same day and they said I would have two wait 2weeks to get my money back. And to me that is not very good customer service. Also did you know that if you don't return something in 14 days that you will not get your money back. You'll have to settle for store credit. What if you found a product you liked better at another store you'd be SOL if you didn't return it within the 14 days.
Not some place I feel comfortable shopping in.

How long do you feel a company should let you return an item for full price? 14 days, a month, a year or longer? When do you think after you make a purchase the item belongs to you? You probably went to the store with the big yellow tag for a sign. Did you know that they contract to have products made exclusively for them? It might have been a similar cable, but it probably wasn't the same. You shouldn't know the difference though. The general public buys garbage all the time not knowing any better. They like to get their advice from minimum wage earning teens.

I have to ask, at what point do you take ownership of a product that you purchased? If you decide to buy something, you usually know within a week whether or not it is right for you. Also, there is technically a major difference between all the hdmi cables that are on the market. I mean scientifically they are different but how much of the difference each individual can see is completely subjective. So to touch on your comment about competitors having a similar product for less, that is really an irrelevant point. I mean just because a Ford and a Mercedes both have four wheels and an engine does not make them equal or of the same value. This is why one will cost more than the other. If consumers like yourself were not already in the mindset to be upset, you really would understand the quality of service and excellent prices that stores like Hhgregg really offer. I'd be willing to bet that for every bad comment you see on the internet, there are at least a hundred stories of how great an experience a customer had. Common sense will tell you that if you go to McD's and have a decent sandwhich, you don't tell anyone. If you go to that same McD's and get a roach in your sandwhich, the whole world will know. My suggestion...keep emotional comments to yourself and for anyone reading about the different stores mentioned, go to each one and see for yourself what kind of experience YOU have.

I am a customer service representative from an hhgregg in Ohio. We do sell $40 HDMI cables, I'm not sure of the stock at the location you shopped at, but what I really wanted to inform you was about the return and refund policy. The longest it could take to get a refund is for us to do what is call a Check Request, we have to refund in the form we were paid. If we recieved a check we must send one back. But any other refund takes 2 days (if a credit or debit card) or instant if cash under $100. (We do have to send a check for refunds over $100. You'll find the same policy at almost every retailer.) As for our 14 day return policy, we can sometimes work with you on a return depending on the item and its condition. There have been several occasions where I've given customers a full refund even after the return policy was up, it really depends. On an HDMI cable, if it's unopened, my managers will usually authorize a return. Customer satisfaction is our top priority, and it's not worth a sale of a single HDMI cable for it. I'm sorry if your location didn't consider it. I would ask for a manager next time, like I said, we want to keep you, as a customer, happy.
