In October 2009 I purchased a replacement battery for a Dell laptop computer from Intelligent Batteries.  The battery came with a one-year warranty.  In July 2010 (9 months later) the battery would no longer hold a sufficient charge.  I requested and received a "return merchandise authorization" (RMA) Number along with their very long list of requirements for returning a product.  I complied with all their requirements which included the following:

* The product item must be returned in its original packing and accompanied by a copy of the original invoice.

    * The package must be sent with the RMA number clearly marked on the shipping label.

    * The package must be sent PREPAID.  Sent by REGULAR MAIL ONLY and declared as ELECTRONIC PART.

    * The package must be sent to:

Intelligent Batteries Inc. Unit 2120, 13700 Mayfield Place, Richmond BC, Canada V6V2E4

    * Intelligent Batteries Inc. reserves the right to refuse returns and exchanges not in accordance with

      the fore-mentioned instructions

    * ANY PACKAGE SENT BY UPS STANDARD SERVICE FROM U.S.A. WILL BE REJECTED.

In August 2010 I received my battery back in the mail.  The package had been marked "Refused, Return to Sender."  It was unopened.  I immediately emailed them for an explanation as to why my return had been refused.  It is now September 2010 and I have not even heard back from them.  In my opinion, that is three strikes.  First they failed to supply a product that could even survive the warranty period.  Secondly, they failed to honor their warranty and finally, they failed to explain why they would not honor their warranty.  Do I have legal recourse?  Probably not since they "reserve the right to refuse returns."  That doesn't mean I have to let it happen to you however.
