During the holidays sales I bought an Italsteam iron at a mall kiosk.  I paid over $65 for an iron hoping it was going to alleviate my chores.  Finally, I got ready to use it, I plugged it in to my surprise, the lights went off.  Tried it again in another room, same reaction.  Finally, my husband told me to stop plugging it in, it was taking the brakers and that was very dangerous.  Needless to say, I never got to use it, but the little I did, it didn't do anything like they showed me at the mall.

I'm not sure how the iron tripping your "breakers"

AUTHOR: Ken - (USA)

was "very dangerous."

Also, as the breakers were doing their job and shutting off an overload, how would this set your house on fire?

Sorry, but none of what happened was dangerous.

It sounds like you may have older wiring and 15 amp breakers on your utility circuits.

The iron appears to be just enough to trip the breakers and protect the house wiring.

Just in case you don't think I know what I'm talking about, I've wired houses and repaired electronics most of my life.

Sorry your iron didn't work out for you.
