Because if they still sell it all you have to do is buy a new one, gut it, then return for a refund.

Thats a pretty cheesy name for a microwave.

MOST microwaves, and other electronics are made in China, Mexico, or some other third world sewer.

Not uncommon.



You are obviously dealing with sheer incompetence and/or laziness.



That same fuse is most likely inside many other models, as a fuse is usually generic, and not model specific.



The part needs to be looked up by specification, not part number.



Or, bypass the internal fuse and put your own in-line, or on a fused power strip.



Or, break down and splurge on a new microwave for $59!

glass or ceramic the only difference is if you can see the filament.

i am sure mouser or digikey has them also its a common fuse.

China has nothing to do with this.

You bought a Microwave at an outlet store, which means that by the time you bought it it was probably already discontinued.  The microwave "brand" sounds like a store brand of JCpenny and is probably some generic low-end appliance.  Yes there is a reason why it was cheaper than other microwave ovens.

However as for the fuse.  Think about it in other terms..metric.  I found several 20mm(0.787in) 15amp ceramic fuses on the internet.  Why not try one of those, as if you measured correctly that is only a difference of .03 inches.

If you've removed the cover and found the fuse blown, you need to exercise caution.  Several points under the cover have the capability of delivering a severe shock even if unplugged and a fatal shock if plugged in and cooking. Use care to touch nothing but the fuse while UNPLUGGED, never while still plugged in.



If you feel comfortable testing, you can, after the precautions above, wrap the old fuse in foil and place it back in the oven.  Then plug the oven into an outlet strip with a 15 amp breaker in it and the outlet strip into the wall....do NOT run the oven with the foiled fuse and plugged directly into the outlet...you may trigger a fire in the oven.



Try getting a fuse at Radio Shack or an appliance parts source as the best way to go.



I won't even try to tell you how to troubleshoot the oven if the new fuse or breaker blows, there are too many things that can be wrong and it's very dangerous to work on it if you're unfamiliar.

Running an oven with too small amount of food, or no food in it, can cause damage to the magnetron(expensive) and then blow the fuse.



Get a new oven if the new fuse/strip blows while testing.
