Beware of Mr. Carl Carranza's child modeling scam.

We are recent victims of his fraudulent practice and are filing a case against him. Mr. Carranza's scams include illegal advance fee requests, pretense for being a legitimate practice, and use of hardball sales and emotional tactics to acquire money from intelligent and innocent parents.

Mr. Carranza will compliment your child and tell you everything you want to hear. He will also say things like "I only see children once a year", "Hundreds of kids come knocking on my door, I don't have time to see everyone." He will have you sign a contract which includes no refunds or no cooling periods, which is illegal by California law. Nor will he print in the contract the amount of money (advance fee) he stole from you.

If you find yourself in this situation, contact the following and make a report immediately: Better Business Bureau, Federal Trade Commission telephone #: 1-877-382-4357, Department of Industrial Relations, email address is www.dir.ca.gov, Attorney General's Office, email address is www.ag.ca.gov.

We not only want our money back, but we want to make sure no other parents are victims of a scam. We want to put a stop to people like Mr. Carranza and businesses like his.

FlashCast - Impartial View

AUTHOR: Grace - Alhambra (U.S.A.)

I wanted to share an impartial view of FlashCast.

I am a parent that did go to FlashCast to get my kids a contact w/ talent agencies. We were asked to wait in their waiting room and my kids played with all the toys available. Then, we were asked to meet with the CEO and he was very positive about the kids. He then goes through what the company does and talks quickly about a fee of $1500. My husband and I were a little surprised about the fee, but understand that is how the company has to make money. Afterwards, he gives you a card to call back at a certain time to find out if your kids are accepted. Once accepted, you will need to go back to their office where they will talk you through the steps needed to land an agent.

My husband and I decided not to continue because of the cost involved. I hope everyone can decide for their own what is in the best interest of their families. For us, forking out $1500 was not what we had intended in the first place. I know it is hard to make "contacts" with the industry. I feel that FlashCast did not misrepresent themselves. I hoped that parents will just make the right decision for them, whether or not they put up the money.
