I moved to Los Angeles in 2006. I was approached by one of Bruce Edwin's "scouts" in September of 2006. It was a female, so I thought that was a good sign. I had heard that majority of scam artists are male... don't be fooled! I called the number she gave me for Starpower Management LLC and set up an appointment within the week with Bruce Edwin. I am promptly on time for every meeting. We had about four meetings total, in his piece of shit office. The second meeting he had me bring my camera, strip down in my bikini (he told me to wear), and pose for him. The third meeting I was manipulated in to signing a contract (so dumb) that stated I was not allowed to bash him on the internet or in the press or any other stuff like that. It also states if I were to sue him, I had to pay for his attorney and fees. HAHA, that is not even legal... Does he know anything about the Bill of Rights!? Let's see...Amendment one: Freedom of speech and of the press... He said I was dumb if I had to have an attorney look over , so being a naive 18 year old, I signed the contract.
Over multiple phone conversations he said I need to have a Zed card and needed pictures taken immediately. He told me I had only one choice in my photographer. Michael Mordler. Those two were in it together. DO NOT LET THEM FOOL YOU!!! Bruce said to bring him $500 ("cash only!") to his office and he would give it to the photographer before my shoot. The thing is...For the FIRST time, there was no assistant in the office with us when I gave him the cash!!! No witnesses great! I called Michael who said he never got the $500 so I would need to pay him if I wanted my pictures... As soon as I called Bruce letting him know that I was on to him he stopped picking up my calls and still to this day will hang up on me if I call him. It is now 2008 and I am still furious about this scam artist. I was my $500 back! It is about principal, not the money. Is it too late to sue him? What can I do? Should I go in to his office and threaten him? Please help!

Even though you 18, your senses had to have been telling you something was not right. Now, not to really blame you but...your desire to get into modeling forced those thoughts to the back.
- You stated he had a "Piece of **** Office".
- He wanted you to sign a contract which basically said you can not talk bad about him or file a suit against him.
- He said you were dumb to have an attorney look it over
- He said he wanted CASH only
Any one of those should have been a big warning, and hopefully you have learned from this.
Now DO NOT go to his office and do any threats, that is going to get you no where. You should go to your local court house ASAP and file a Small Claims Case. When you go to the Courthouse the Clerk's office can not give you legal advise, but they can give you the instructions on how to file and let you know if there is any "free" help available.
You may have a copy of the contract that was signed. If so the second the judge sees it they will probably rule in your favor. It still may be hard to prove that you gave him $500 cash(no receipt?) but with the rest of the evidence you may be able to prevail.
You should also get a copy of all of your documentation to the local Santa Monica Police Department fraud division. I am sure they would love to know all of this.
