My rip off started July 2006 when I attended a convention in Seattle known as the Bite Of Seattle. The modeling agency I've wanted to audition for was there and signing girls up for later appointments. It took like two weeks for me to get a phone, but when I finally did, I was excited. I show up to the agency and discover that because I had no modeling experience, I'd have to pay out $1100.00 for training. I was skeptical due to the fact the price included runway coaching (I'm 5'2 and no one that height is ever asked to due runway at the height). As the weeks go by, I feel as if I am getting the cold shoulder compared to others in the class. The first time a class was cancelled, it was suppose to be my first full week and the agency made up for it by allowing me to sit in on acting classes. The weeks continue to go by and things get worst. Classes are cancelled again and this time everyone except me is called. I showed up for a class in September or October time frame to find the building completely empty, no lights. The second time I showed up was 30 November 2006, the day of a scheduled photo shoot. The receptionist confirmed that there was a photo shoot that day, yet I show up and the building is empty. The problem with all of the cancelled classes is that I left my job at 3:30 in the afternoon to catch a 4:15 ferry from a town called Bremerton where I am stationed as I am active duty military. The ferry ride is an hour each way and since I don't have a license, I paid nearly $40.00 in cabs. After speaking to a fellow classmate who made her agency and now gets the cold shoulder, we have determined that it is a rip off. It's easy to make me pay for classes to get the money and play on my dreams when she never had any any intention on signing me. Showing up to cancelled appointment without receiving phone calls while standing outside of an agency is humiliating. Thanks to all who read this and understand how I felt.
