AMC Mortgage Unwilling to work with us, Liars, Cheaters, scam artists. Ripoff Carol Stream Illinois

We refinanced with Ameriquest in 2004, basically because they promised us all kinds of great payments. Our payment would drop over $300. It was great! Then things started to change, our bill for some reason was higher each month. We didn't question it, we just continued to make the payments. We were never late on any payments, until August 2006. We were on vacation at the time and remembered that our house payment was due. We logged into our "myamc" website and paid the full amount. The next month, we were a little short on our money situation, of course for some reason AMC bumped up our payment an extra couple hundred bucks. So we called AMC and asked them if we could make half a payment on the 1st of the month and the rest on the 15th. "No Problem" they told us, "just as long as you pay the full amount each month, you can do this any time". So we decided that it would be easier to make payments this way (bad move on our part). We always made payments on the internet, never sent any money in, so it was easy, however about 2 months later we realized the money that WAS getting applied to our loan was taken out of the loan and somehow disappeared. When my spouse called them, the lady said "I am unable to talk to you at this time, your house is now under foreclosure and you will soon hear from our lawyers, you can discuss your matter with them, AMC does not have a plan to pay half payments at a time". Of course panic sets in at this point, we tried to log into our account online, it was locked out. The next day we received a check from AMC in the amount of $800, obviously one of the half payments we sent in. But where is the rest? After trying and trying to talk to someone at AMC, we finally called the Attorney General. Now AMC is telling him WE defaulted on the loan and that we now owe them $26,000 and is due by the end of this month. Of course I await the Sheriff to come to my door and hand me the papers. I can't sleep at night, I have 3 kids and a wonderful family. We both worked our butts off to afford this house, now our dream is being taken from us because they said we could make payments that way.... Stay away from AMC!
