We rented this house from a friend of ours. We pay her mortgage. Originally the house was with North American Mortgage Company. We were paying our rent on time. Then my spouse lost her job. We had finally got caught up with North American Mortgage Company. The last check I sent to them was in October for the exact amount they spcified for.
At the end of October we got a letter stating that Countrywide Mortgage was taking over. I sent a copy of the check to Countrywide which I had sent to North American Mortgage. They said they never received it.I went on your rip off page and was hoping that nothing would happened. Boy was I wrong. My spouse's job in Nov.2001 went under. I called them and told them. They said when can you make a payment. I said probally not until January.
My spouse has a good job now. I only received one bill from them I sent in the correct amount for that bill. In February, I called them to see if they had received my money order. I talked to a woman there. (I know her name.) She said," I'm sorry we can't except the money order." I said, "Why, I sent in two months, like you had told me." She said, "The house is in foreclosure." I said,WHAT?" I said," I have not recieved anything stating that the house was going into forecloser Wesent all the paper work out." I said, "You did not, I never received anything!" I proceeded to tell her that the only thing I received from them was one bill, that was it. She lied to me. This was only lie #1. She said," Well, you owe this amount, and if you send in this amount, it will stop the foreclouser." I told her that I would mail it to her overnight, on the next day.
The next morning I went out to the truck to open our gate as I was going to the bank to get a bank check. I notice a peice of paper on the fence. I looked at it, and I couldn't beleive my eyes!. It was a notice from Cal-Western stating that the Countrywide was selling the house this March 21,2002(Our Wedding Aniversay)at public auction. I went into a rage. I called the sob's again. I spoke with another woman this time. (I know her name too.) She said that we owed 7,500 including. attorney fees. And if this amount was not paid by March 21, that the house would be sold. I told her what the other woman said. She said I don't think she ever said that." I was totally irate!
How dare she call me a liar in so many words. So I told her, I have 3,000 right now that I can send you. She said, Sorry I can't except that. I said well I'll see what I can do. Last night, I got a call from this woman. I told her we were trying to get the 7,500 to pay to stop the foreclosure. She said" What 7,500?" I said "This is what you told me the last time we spoke." She said, "No, I would have never told you that, none of my people give a quote ever the phone." I said, "Yes you did" Where the heck would I come up with a figure like that? Anyway, she said, You owe, for this months now, so that's aprox 9,000 including reinstatement fees, and attorney fees.Do you want me to send reinstement papers so you can send in the 9,000 by Feb. 28th? " I said, " Please do. But you did say it was 7500." She kept dening the fact that she had ever said anything like that.I just worte a letter to our friend and landlady.
After all this she probally will tell us to move out. This entire situation has taken it's tole on me as I am physcically and permanantly disabled. Pleas if you can help in anyway, I would love to sue Countrywide for all the lies and mental abuse they have put my spouse, and our friend through. Is their anything I can do about this? Any help would greatly be appreciated.
