me and my wife purchased our house through a company called home associates about 8yrs ago. the company (home associates) sold our loan to a company called fair banks capitol corp.
At first there were no problems (little did we know). One day i was home frome work (lunch) and i checked the mail and a letter from fairbanks was in the mail box.
The letter stated for me to call them (reference ?????)So i called and they stated "you are 4,000.00 dollars behind on my house payment".
I stated to them there was no way i was behind on my house i send a payment on time every month. The company stated i was not sending enough money on my payment.
I then i stated i send 557.01 every month. The company's representative said your payment is 667.00 i then stated i had the papers to prove what my payment was and the representative told me to fax the papers to them and he would call me back.
So i returned to work that day and faxed the papers to them.Well the representative never called back of course. So then next month i sent my payment of 560.00 in. and couple weeks later i got my payment back in the mail stating i wasnt enough.
So then the phone calls started. I could never get to talk to a human. It was always a voice mail. I left unnumbered messages. so our lawyer told us he would get a hold of them.
Well needless to say we spent money on the lawyer and he faxed, certified letter (of course they say they never reicieved but it has someones signiture on them and that person doesnt work there anymore)and he also called.(he has a copy of everything that was sent and the signitures of all the certified letters that they never got hahaha)now its been 1yr. and they sent us forclosure papers they want to take my house over something that is there fault.
I finally got a hold of heidi york that works there and she wanted us to pay for there lawyers fees, late payments and other fees.
so she said if we sent in 1000.00 dollars a month then it would be taken care of well needless to say its not.
Fairbanks did finally say they found our perchase agreement from home associates and our payment is 557.01 a month. and every time we called the fairbanks corp. when we did get to speak to someone they would have no clue on what was going on.
So i have told my story to you hoping it will help someone else not to go through the hell that me and my wife has been through. (and still going through)
its bad that a corp. can try to rip-off people. So if you see the fairbanks sign run run far away and never look back or it could be you not knowing if you will get to keep your house or be out in the cold like me.
