I have been on HOLD with Wells Fargo Mortgage since September of 2007. After going thru pure HELL with them. And not getting phone call returned and being told I MUST call once a week. There resolution was to reaise my mortgage which I couldn't afford as it was by $300.00 a month. I called and asked for help BEFORE I got into trouble. They put me off until it was too late. I TRIED to pay the $1900.00 a month payment plan they had set up but there was no way I could afford it. I am a single Mom who also has full care of my handicapped brother. I have no one else to help me. I have once again notified Loss Mitigation after doing as requested calling EVERY week for 4 weeks I was then told they did not receive my worksheet which of course I was told I didn't need, because I had requested to talk to a negotiatier. I sent the information they requested in October and still haven't received a name of a Negotiater. I also requested could I pay half the mortgage payment one week and then the other half 2 weeks later. Two weeks after taking my 1/2 payment they put the payment in a suspense account and I haven't seen it since.

I was so surprised to see so many people going through the same thing. I really thought I was the only one.

Time to move on...

AUTHOR: Bob Pace - Silver Spring (U.S.A.)

All mortgage companies are busy and understaffed right now. It could very well take a long time to get this worked out.

Now with that out of the way...

Time and time again these 'ripoff' reports consist of the same statements "they raised the payment I already couldnt afford". The way these companies come up w/ your modification or repayment plan amounts is off of the financial information you give to them. Meaning if you actually stick to the budget you relay to them to qualify, you should have no problem affording the payment they came up with. The problem lies in the fact that most people don't stick to the budget or leave out expenses to qualify for a program.

If you can't afford your mortgage payment because you don't make enough money, regardless of the circumstances, its time to move on to something more affordable. Its only a house. A house that is probably not worth what you owe on it and won't be for quite some time. Credit is so bad in this country it probably won't be long until a foreclosure doesn't even mean anything to lenders. I'm in no way trying to talk you into just letting the bank foreclose on your home, but I would imagine they would also be willing to look at the short sale and deed-in-lieu options as well.

Its really not worth the stress/money involved trying to hold onto something that you can no longer afford. The time and effort spent worrying and trying to work things out coupled with giving up the majority of your income takes a major toll.
