I had paid $850 for a one week stay at the Bevonshire Lodge Motel on 7575 Beverly Blvd in Los Angeles, CA. HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!!
Initially, when I booked the room, I had specifically requested a double bed in a non-smoking room. However, when my wife and I arrived after having travelled for over 20 hours - we were given the key card to a single bed that smelled like an ashtray. I immediately approached the front desk demanding an explanation – and was simply told that the motel was fully booked and that if we didn’t like it – we could find another place. (Without a refund) As preposterous as this sounded – I agreed to spend the night and solve the matter with the manager the following day. We got the double bed, but upon entering the room, it became painfully clear that the new room not only was equally disgusting and smelly, but also VERY, VERY noisy. Our room was situated above a generator that went on ALL NIGHT. Thus, leaving us sleep deprived for 3 days in a row…After requesting yet another room change – I was told by an insufferably rude and insulting young employee that he in fact was not “our slave” and that the motel did not grant room changes after midnight. He then launched into some meaningless rant about how we had paid for ONE ROOM ONLY and that we were not entitled to “a second room”. I was not asking for a second room, however, which he was well aware. He was simply trying to twist and turn the situation so that he could carry out his mean-spirited plan which was to let us suffer in the noisy room. To add insult to injury – I was also told that if I had any more problems that “we could take it outside” - in attempt to instigate a fist fight with me. Needless to say, my wife and I were absolutely shocked and appalled by the absurdity of the situation and the treatment we had received, but were nonetheless bluntly denied a refund or any form of compensation by the owner who showed no remorse what so ever and did not make the faintest attempt to apologize on behalf of his employees' lack of decency and downright obscene and offensive behaviour.
Not only do we feel ripped off – but grossly violated by the Bevonshire Lodge Motel and its staff. This kind of behaviour warrants public awareness and future customers are strongly advised to refrain from doing business with this establishment.
