This hotel chain WILL RIP YOU OFF!!! I was told that my $100 room deposit would be mailed to me within 30 days. I waited. No check. Contacted national headquarters (this is a task in itself, not even their website lists an address). If you call, you get an answering machine and they won't call you back. I finally got an e-mail address for them....they responded that no refund was due...no explaination.

I contacted the hotel property directly. The manager stated that national headquarters (Atlanta, GA) processed all refunds and that I would have to contact them. I told the manager that I did contact them and that they e-mailed me that I had to contact the hotel property directly. The run-around. The manager even stated that his records concerning my refund would have to be dug out of his attic (yea right....the records from 30 days ago are in the attic). I have since sent 3 more e-mails asking about my refund. No response. No refund.

This chain claims to have 12,000+ rooms nationally. How much money do you think they are making if they screw only half of their customers out of their deposits? Like me, who has the time to take them to court for $100? This is what they count on.

I have since talked to several people that this chain has ripped off for their deposits. One of their ploys is that you must give "24 hour written notice" of checking out. A lot of these notices when turned in are conveniently "lost". No notice...no refund. Another ploy is to charge you outrageous amounts for "damages or lost property". Like 10 bucks for a lost or soiled towel, $3 for a 10 cent ashtray, $25 for a tack hole in the wall, etc.

If you do decide to check-in against my advise, document everything down to pinholes in the walls or holes in the indoor/outdoor turf they call carpet. Check your 2 towels and 1 washcloth (that are changed ONCE A WEEK) for any possible stains...otherwise you WILL be charged. Don't lock yourself out of your room ($10) or pay your bill 10 minutes after it is due ($45).

Be prepared to "do your time" in lock down. Don't open your door (against the rules), don't open your window (against the rules), don't even open your blinds (against the rules). If you back into a parking spot, be prepared to be greeted by a nasty yellow sticker (yes sticker, not a note) on your window informing you of your rules violation. Oh, by the way, don't lift the hood on your car to check the oil....it's against the rules!!!!

The office hours are a real treat too. 11 to 7. Yea right. Someone MIGHT be in the office between these hours if you get lucky...otherwise be prepared to wait for the flunky to show up. Need a special arrangement to pay because of your work schedule...forget it. Want to get on the road early....forget it. You can only check-out during "office hours".

My advise is to stay away from this ripoff company...you and your pocketbook will be better off!!!!

Intown Suites are Rip-Off Artist

AUTHOR: Brian - Houston (U.S.A.)

I stayed two weeks at the In-Town Suites in Houston, Texas and followed all their rules, which is run like a Nazi concentration camp and they decided to up and keep my deposit for no reason. If you need to deal with the coporate office good luck. I would rather deal with the IRS at least you can find someone to talk to at the IRS. I have called the corporate office over twenty times and have not received one returned call. I do not believe there is one living soul at the Corporate office of Intown Suites. It is run by a voice mail machine.

It is a scam company that takes advantage of traveling people. It really disgust me to give my money to such a company.

Please, Please do not stay at Intown Suites. I learned the hard way. It is now my personal mission to get the truth out about this company to unsuspecting customers.

Don't Group All InTowns Together

AUTHOR: Fred - Blaine (U.S.A.)

I've been staying at an InTown for months, and have never had one problem. On my floor, there have never been bugs or spiders, and the cleaning gal does a thorough job; even cleaning the microwave, and putting aluminum splatter shields on the stove. Sometimes when I've been running late, the manager at my location is more than happy to run my credit card and wait for me to sign—with no added fees.

It all depends on the manager, I suppose. And I have a great manager and cleaning staff. The only times the manager steps away from the office is to go to the bathroom or check a room. I have been in the office many times when people have checked out, and none of them were angry about their stay—even those who checked out without a 24-hour notice. (Most of them do, though, with no problems.) I can also come and go as I please, so I'm not sure what you mean about "lock down".
