Like so many of us do on occasion, I locked my keys in my van right next to my apartment. Normally I wouldn't be too upset, but I had to be up early the next morning, so I contacted the first locksmith I could find on google.

denverlocksmiths.net seemed dependable enough.

They took some time to show up, which I understand, but upon arriving, it took the locksmith literally seconds to open my van for me, he then charged me $160. That's right, to open my van, $160. Of course, a knowledgeable friend of mine called them for me and talked to them about how ridiculous the price was. The manager on duty, or whomever he spoke to also agreed that the price was insane and that their charges start around 29.99 for the actual service and around 39.99 for other fees.. in my experience, 65-75 dollars is pretty standard with locksmiths.

My friend was told that they had the invoice and a manager would call me in the morning to give me a refund.

The charge showed up immediately on my bank account, which nicely enough, was all of my Birthday money. I waited until a decent hour and still was not contacted, when I called them, they told me "Managers aren't in on weekends, it was probably someone new who told you that." From where I'm standing, that's a runaround. I'll be waiting for my call on Monday, if I don't get it, that's $160 dollars down and one spoiled Birthday which I can chalk up to these scam-artists.

Dont give up. They are banking that you will

AUTHOR: Mike - Bridgeview (U.S.A.)

I am sorry to hear that you have become a victim of a scam that has been going on for quite a few years now.

You are a victim of a scam that operates as locksmiths but are really just one of a few national companys that are ripping off consumers.

They will wait for you to go away. File a complaint with your attorney gemeral.

These guys are most likely not a real locksmith but just a bait and switch operation
It has become a nationwide epidemic.

I would suggest the consumers search out a true locksmith in their area and store the # in their cell phone for an emergency thus avoiding these scam companys which dominate the advertising arena.

Make sure you file a complaint with the attorney general.
