Giuffre dealerships are dishonest crooks, and professional conmen. They prey on people who are not knowledgeable about dealerships. They manipulated me and took advantage of my lack of knowledge. Do not buy vehicles from them they will con you into believing that you can afford the vehicle, falsify documents to their needs to convince the finance company that you are eligible for the loan, when they know that you are not. They have no mercy and will stop at nothing to destroy innocence people.

On 7/29/08 my mother and I went into the dealership to purchase a used car. I saw this car that I like and I wanted to purchase it but my mother kept insisting that the car was too much for me and I cannot handle it. She said that I cannot afford the car, but I really wanted the car, and the dealership knew that I wanted the car, and they asked me a few questions and told me that I have zero credit and the only way I could purchase the car is to use my mother's credit so that the bank will approve it. They asked my mother how much does she make a month before taxes, but they never asked for any proof of our annual salaries.

My mother kept saying over and over that I cannot handle it and she is not comfortable with it. But the Finance manager Reggie kept telling me that I he believes that I can handle it with the help of my mother. He kept encouraging me that it is do able, with my mother's help. While my mother and I were kind of arguing about the situation the Finance Manager put several documents in front of my mother and said I need you to sign here and here and my mother signed the papers but she did not want to do it.

My mother does not have a license but yet the dealership set it up so that everything falls under my mother's name. Everything happened so fast.

When we went home my mother said that something does not feel right, and she has nothing but remorse. My mother told me that I should call the dealership and tell them that I cannot afford the car and I am returning the car. I called the dealership the next day on 7/30/08, and they gave me a hard time. We tried to return the car for two weeks, it was frustrating.

Finally my mother called the finance company that finance the loan and she spoke to two of the representatives and explained the situation. My mother said that she wants to voluntary surrender of the vehicle. One of the representatives called the dealership and told them that my mother is voluntary surrendering the vehicle and will be returning the car today, which was on 8/11/08. The finance manager Reggie said OK. My mother cannot drive so she asked one of my friends to drive the vehicle to the dealership. He parked the vehicle on the lot, and my mother called the finance company back to confirm that they returned the vehicle, and the representative said that she will send an agent to pick up the car.

So much has happen from 07/29/08 until now. The dealership apparently parked the car on the street to make it look like the car was abandoned. There are several summonses on the car and the car was eventually picked up and put in the police pond. We are having a lot a trouble with this situation. My mother's credit is probably destroyed because of this. I want the public to know just how dangerous the Giuffre Hyundai dealership is so that this does not happen to them. Please do not buy cars from them.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

the mistakes made were not by the dealership

AUTHOR: Cat - Hendersonville (U.S.A.)

No one forced you to buy this car. You had the power to get up and WALK AWAY. You had the power to say NO.

Your mother knew what she was doing by signing HER name. Why do you think they asked for a co-signer? It was not because they thought she was stupid, it was because when YOU do not pay it, they could go after HER. Look up co-signer in the dictionary.

You should have driven the car and walked in and handed the keys over to the Manager of the dealership. It is easy to point the fingers and say what the dealership did wrong, however, YOU are the adult, you bought the car and YOU need to take ownership and be responsible for the damage caused for ruining your mom's credit. By the way, a voluntary repoed would have ruined it anyway because they will eventually sell the car, then they WILL sue you for the difference and they will hunt you down till you or your mother pays or did you not understand what repo means? Just by taking the car back does not mean you are out of the deal! YOU did this to your mother not the dealership. Next time pay cash for a junker like I did and drive it til you can afford something better. That is what responsible adults do!

Be responsible!

AUTHOR: Debbie - Cincinnati (U.S.A.)

I totally agree with the above poster. You bought this car on your own free will, AGAINST your mother's advice! I blame her also for giving in to you and signing the papers when she felt uneasy about it from the beginning.

A car dealers job (although at time unscrupulous) is to sell you a car. Period. Whatever means necessary. In this case, they knew how much you wanted the car (big mistake) and they felt that your mother would eventually be a push-over and sign for you because you couldn't get it on your own. It worked, didn't it? Now you're crying that they sold you a car (THAT YOU WANTED) when they knew you couldn't afford it (WHICH YOUR MOTHER KNEW). If you think they stabbed you in the back, seems to me YOU handed them the knife!

By the way, cars aren't like a pair of jeans. You can't just "return" it the next day because you wise up and realize you can't afford it. You've signed a deal - a finance agreement. The car is yours, like it or not. When you call the finance company and offer to give the car back, it doesn't wipe the slate clean. It's called a "voluntary surrender" and counts against you just like a repossession does. The only difference is that you made their job much easier by not having to track down the vehicle and pay someone to tow it.

They now have to sell that car at an auction (for MUCH MUCH less than you bought it for, trust me) and then you pay the difference. Now your mother has a repo on her credit thanks to you...because you "really wanted the car", and she was stupid enough to give in to her kids wants.

My mother would have told me to "crap in one hand and want in the other, and see which one gets full first."

Hopefully you've learned something.

A CAR IN NEW YORK???

AUTHOR: Margaret - Houston (U.S.A.)

You live in a city with one of the best public transportation systems in the world. What in the #$%% do you need a car for??? I would love to live in New York, my favorite city and if I did I would not be bothering with a car. Its an unneeded expense there.

Buyers Remorse

AUTHOR: Giuffreautogroup - Brooklyn (U.S.A.)

As stated to the consumer many times during the purchase and also when she returned. FTC laws state that there no "cooling off" period in terms of vehicle purchase. The owner took possession of the vehicle and signed all necessary paper work to show that she fully acknowledged that she was purchasing a vehicle. In turn also showing that she agreed to the financial arrangements disclosed to her prior to signing the documents. Our company has been in business for over 25 years and does not have a reputation for unhappy consumers. Unfortunately this was a result of an unwise purchase , if all factors stated by the consumer are true. If the consumer , who had established credit and was heavily negotiating a price, did not feel she could afford it...why did she sign? Or take possession of the vehicle?

In closing , Giuffre had no knowledge of the vehicle being left stranded or of the car being picked up by the bank until much later. We apologize for any hardships this has created yet , we do not take any responsiblilities for the actions of the consumers once the car leaves our facility.
