Issue #1: Deliberate Price Gouging:
For the moment Security Moving arrived at my residence there was nothing but problems. First, my estimate was based on .60 cents per pound w/ an approx inventory of 2800 lbs. Once the mover arrived they proceeded to wrap all my furniture (most of which I already had wrapped) and then proceeded to tell me that the packing material would be an additional charged. My estimate / estimator clearly stated that the price $1680.00 included EVERYTHING and I quote No hidden Cost.

I never asked them to package my belongings I packaged a majority of them myself. If I knew the packing was additional I would have completed it myself. Again was not asked if they should provide additional packing they just made the decision w/ out consulting me.

After that was all done we came to an agreement and I was told My boss said that the cost would be a FLAT RATE of 1680.00) I signed the contract w/ a member of Security moving for $1680.00. I then paid a 50% cash deposit and the movers where on there way.

Shortly after I realized that the movers had put a hole in the stairwell of my residence. (See below) I called Security Moving and was then told that my contract of 1680.00 was no longer VALID. That they did not do flat rates so it would have to be weighted. I than asked to follow them to the weight station to get a reading, although I never received one because I never made it there.

I was told the my boss does not want to deliver your stuff to Dallas I was told I have two OPTIONS pay a new flat rate of $2,000 or they would unload my stuff at my door for $500 - $600. THEY KNEW I WAS AT THERE MERCY SINCE MY GOODS WHERE ON THERE TRUCK AND I WAS MOVING IN 8 DAYS. I told the moving foreman that I would not pay more than $1800.00 or the actually weight, so he told me his boss would do it for that. I NEVER RECEIVED THE ACTUALLY WEIGHT. However, I'm certain it much LESS than the original estimate of 2800 lbs.

Issue #2: Not honoring prior Agreed delivery date:
After that all took place I received a call from the supervisor stating that unless I excepted delivery on the Aug. 26th I would NOT BE ABLE TO RECEIVE MY GOODS for two to three weeks after the PREVIOUSLY agreed and SIGNED date of Aug. 29th .

Issue #3: Damage to Private Property
In the process of moving my goods the movers punched a 5 into the stairwell. Then I noticed AFTER I paid $840.00. So I called Security moving and the mover came back and LIED stating it was like that. When I know for a FACT it's was NOT. It was also at this time when I was told my SIGHNED COTRACT FOR $1680.00 was no longer valid.

When I contacted the supervisor He was completely unprofessional and obviously did not care about anything that has transpired. I can only HOPE that my goods are not damaged upon delivery

You Were Scammed - Legally

A mover that quoted you based on a price per pound is a scammer. Anyone who doesn't base your move on weight alone (not price per pound because not all activities associated with a move are based on weight) is going to rip you off. What you got was a non-binding quote of $1,680.00 which isn't a quote that you termed "flat rate". It means that if the weight turns out to be higher - you're going to pay the difference. I don't know where you found these folks, but NJ happens to be a prime place for scam moving companies. With the industry the way it is, the only safe way to go if you want a full-service move is with one of the major companies. In the end, you might pay more for the service, but you won't have the sort of back-end costs your either experiencing or will soon.

If I had to guess, you're nightmare isn't over. If you happen to read this, did they give you valuation at $0.60 per pound or did they actually provide you with the opportunity to buy Full Replacement Value? If I had to guess, you probably only have valuation at $0.60 per pound and your homeowner's insurance won't cover anything damaged or destroyed in a move....... I mean I really hope your stuff shows up without additional nicks, damages, or anything missing.
