Unfortunately, our story is very similar to all the rest who have been robbed by Dolphin International Shipping. Their "modus operandi" appears to be the same. We booked Dolphin in August 2004 to ship household goods from Chicago to Sydney. At this time there were no complaints against them that we could find on the internet. The main reason we chose Dolphin was because they were so responsive to our original inquiries; Kathryn Kaiser was always available and we spoke many times.

This responsiveness lasted up to the time they received our money (we paid $3,200 for full door to door service). Then all communication stopped. Unlike most complainants on this website, we started chasing Dolphin only 3 weeks after the pick up date. We got very concerned when no emails were answered and no calls were returned. Then we saw all the complaints mounting against Dolphin on this site, and knew that we'd been duped also.

We tracked our shipment to the warehouse of the company that did the original pickup in Chicago. After we raised the roof with them (our cargo had been sitting there for 3 weeks) miraculously they got Dolphin to arrange for the shipment to be trucked to Los Angeles. After our countless requests to Dolphin, Kathryn finally responded with the name of the ship and the expected sailing date. From then we tracked the shipping company in LA and the ship on our own, until it finally reached Sydney. However, our goods could not be released once in Sydney because the LA company had not been paid by Dolphin. Dolphin had also not arranged any documentation for customs.

The company in LA now finds that it has 4 other shipments abandoned by Dolphin, just like ours had been. We have had to pay over $1,400 more to get our goods released and delivered in Sydney. During this nightmare, we consider ourselves luckier than most, because we have received our goods, eventhough it has cost us dearly.

Our advice to any others that have been conned by these criminals--don't hold out hope that they will come through, or that it's just incredibly bad customer service. They won't and it's not. Dolphin International and its staff engage in intentional criminal activity. We are submitting complaints to the FMC, FBI, BBB, and the Florida Attorney General's office.
