I also found this company from msn.com and I thought it was a good bet they wouldn't rip me off. I was totally wrong. They gave me a quote for 3200lbs with no additional charges. When they arrived they charged me for packing the microwave, and dressing mirror and the TV. The tv I can understand but I was told the mirror, tv stand, and microwave would not need additional payment. They also dissassembled my table, tv stand, bed, and dressor mirror.

I was told they would re assemble this when my furniture arrived. I was told to phone the movers (progressive) to find out my total bill and total weight. When I phoned I was told that the weight was under the quote so there would be no additional charges. They would not tell me the weight.

When they arrived I had to pay upfront with an additional $200 dollar charge as they couldn't get the truck into the parking lot but the distance they had to walk was an extra 15 feet. I still never found out the true weight of my furniture and they ripped me off totally.

I have tried to file a report with the Better Business Bureau and Federal Trade commission but I doubt I will hear anything. I also emailed MSN. Problem is, these guys will just close down, change name and reopen. Moving companies suck!

National Moving Network and MSN partnership ..notorious scam company

AUTHOR: Kay - Blacksburg (U.S.A.)

The notorious scam company National Moving Network does indeed have a partnership with Microsoft.

I don't know who you e-mailed at MSN but you should send another e-mail and direct your complaint about NMN and Progressive Van Lines to
Cliff Hawk at chawk@microsoft.com and to Jocelyn Paul at jocelynp@microsoft.com

#2 Update By Author

I have now found that there is stuff missing.

AUTHOR: Costa - Huntington Beach (U.S.A.)

They opened up some boxes and I did find 4 boxes that were partly opened on the sides (where the joins are) and stuff missing from them. On one of them I had a watch in a case and they left the case and took the watch.

I am now monitoring ebay for it as I am sure it will appear on there. There was other things missing but the most disturbing one was a mobile phone box which had my application for their service as it had my social security number on it.

With these crooks I would not put it past them to try something. The worst thing is that I was extra nice to these a**holes. When they came to pick up the first set of guys drank a whole six pack of cokes taht I told them to help themselves on.

I even offered them a briefcase, posters, iron, etc that I was throwing out. Now I am furious about it. When they came to deliver I offered them drinks and even helped them move stuff in, partly because I just wanted my stuff back from them.

I emailed Microsoft via the msn website for house and home
ha_homes_and_sell@css.one.microsoft.com

They told me to phone the highest customer services rep to assist me (their own words). That was a woman called

National Moving Network's highest customer service representative to assist you:

"Ruth Ostrynsky

Director of Customer Service

E-Mail: customerservice@nationalmoving.net

Ruth can be reach at 1-800-446-0929 x2228 during business hours 9AM to 5PM EST. "

I phoned Ruth and it went straight to voicemail. Good luck to anyone else who tries to contact her. However I would advise you to email the microsoft address so that they know this is happening to more people. I am off to file a police complaint now and try to make sure these bastards dont register credit cards in my name.

No help from MSN or AMSA

AUTHOR: Sharon - Alexandria (U.S.A.)

I have also compplained to MSN, letting them know what NMN is up to, and even directed them to this site to read all the "satisfied customers" stories of their moves with the "nation's premier moving broker". The reply I got from MSN was this:

"Thank you for writing to MSN House and Home regarding the National Moving Network. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this matter may have caused you.

We are forwarding your comments regarding National Moving Network services to the team within MSN that manages our relationship with that company. We re always working to improve the level of service provided to our customers.

Should you want to contact them directly, we have arranged for National Moving Network’s highest customer service representative to assist you:

Ruth Ostrynsky

Director of Customer Service

E-Mail: customerservice@nationalmoving.net

Ruth can be reach at 1-800-446-0929 x2228 during business hours 9AM to 5PM EST.

Thank you for using MSN House and Home.

Sincerely,

Kathleen

MSN House and Home Customer Support"

Sounds completely UNhelpful, right? So I wrote back to Kathleen, gave her more details about NMN's practices, and suggested she visit this website to read all the horror stories. Reply was this:

Thank you for writing back to MSN House & Home regarding your complaint on National Moving Network.

We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. The matter you describe has been forwarded to the MSN House and Home Product Specialist Team so it may be given due attention. Sounds like they're really on top of things, huh? They didn't even adjust their form letter very mushc the second time. It's nice to know that the deep pockets of National Moving Network (lined with OUR dollars, nonetheless) are now buying well-known media organizations.

Oh, and complaining to the American Moving and Storage Association (AMSA) won't do anything, since none of these bad companies are members (it's a sort of BBB for movers). Tried.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

microsoft response was identical to mine

AUTHOR: Costa - Huntington Beach (U.S.A.)

Wow, the emails you pasted were identical to the ones they sent me. I guess their partnership is to their benefit and they just send out emails to hope people will just give up. That sucks.
