At the time this was posted, we had just won a sizable judgment in court against this customer. The move had taken place over a year earlier. Looks like trashing us with false claims on RipOff Report was his way of venting, after justice was served. It was one of only 2 times in the last 15 years I went to court to sue a customer – not bad, considering I personally move an average of 400 customers per year!
The old saying is “the estimate is as honest as the information it is based on”. The estimate was prepared with the Mrs., who pointed out that only certain things would be packed and moved. When I explained that a shuttle would be needed because of their long driveway, she assured me that the mover who moved them in got their 18-wheeler in, so I agreed to go along with that. I should have gone with my original assessment. When I asked about parking an 18-wheeler at their new home, she assured me that it was no problem. We did our best to maneuver our 18-wheeler, but it definitely could not be done. We then proceeded to pack and move far more than what she and I agreed to – it was basically a “clean-out” of everything on the property. Also, the driveway at the new home was impossible for an 18-wheeler, contrary to what she told me.
They never called me to discuss the move afterwards, despite their claim that I did not return their calls. I never even spoke to Mr. before the move, but he was the only one who showed up for their court case. Very telling – wasn’t it her word against mine?
I hate to go negative with customers, but in dealing with fraudulent customers who post fabrications on websites like this, it’s important to have both sides of the story.
