This company is despicable and the worst in the market! They sent 1 mover to do a 2 man job, which took over 5 hours for a 1 bedroom move. The company blamed me for not calling them and requesting an extra man for the job. I was unable to get an inventory list because it was after 8 PM when he finished, so I had to trust that he would be truthful when entering my inventory. We had to use the car headlights to provide light so he could finish loading his truck and so we could avoid being locked in overnight at Public Storage. The mover (Jeff) bragged about drug use and being a wanted man in Russia for skipping military duties. When I told the company I had to help the mover throughout the 5 hours, I was told they would compensate me as a day laborer for my work, and take $30 off my bill for the inconvenience. That was one of the most appalling things any company has ever said to me! When you degrade a customer paying over $1300 to a day laborer there is a serious issue.

They never advertised they will only send 1 of their own movers and use day laborers for the rest. The advertisement was "professional movers." Not day labor. When I proceeded with my complaint the next day, the company insisted that I speak Jeff, the mover, instead of a manager. The mover Jeff said it was my fault for not calling the company to ask for an extra man, and the company agreed with that. They never held themselves accountable or apologized for their lack of professionalism or upholding their commitment to professional service. In fact they found it easier to blame me for the whole ordeal time after time I called.

When they delivered my furniture they sent a scruffy day laborer, with 1 of their movers; who went into my kitchen and used my knives to open the boxes without my permission. When I confronted the Smart Moving Rep. about this he shrugged his shoulders and said "so," and never apologized. When I called the office and spoke to Julia she said he was her father and I was overreacting so don’t complain to her. He then took my money and didn't give me my change. When I called the office about it they said I making too big a deal out of it, and they would just mail me a check in a couple of days. This was worst experience I've had with any moving company. If I can spare anyone the stress of using this company I will do everything in my power to do so.
