After moving from another state, and storing my houseful of furniture in a storage building, I called a number of movers for quotes. When I called Starving Student Movers, a lady named Mary gave me a quote of 98 dollars for the truck, appliance dolly, blankets, tape, and gas. I told her that there was about a 25 mile distance involved. She told me that the charge for 2 guys per hour was also 98 dollars. So, the charge would be 98 per hour, plus 98 for the truck and all that went with it. The charges seemed high, but, I didn't want to have to deal with picking up a truck and returning it.

They worked for exactly 5 hours loading things into the truck and then unloading it into my house. My problem isn't with the boys who moved me, they were fine. My problem is that my bill should have been about 650 dollars with taxes. They called the company guy and he told them that I owed 987 dollars. He said that insurance, gas cost, milleage surcharges, etc had to be added. I told him what Mary had quoted me, and he said that she was wrong.

I am a single mom, was alone on this and didn't feel I had any choice but to pay it. I wish now that I would have written it for 650 and made them prove why I owed more. I have since called a number of times, the check is in the mail. yeah.

I have a written quote from them for three men at 138 for truck and all expenses, and 138 an hour for the three men.

I am looking into small claims court. I tell everyone I know, not to use them.
