Warning to all potential victims of World Moving Services:

I spoke to agent 442, Will about moving from Las Vegas, NV to Anchorage, AK. He informed me that I must make a $986 deposit for my move and then the balance would be collected in Anchorage.

I called him back on Jan. 24th put my deposit down for my move on Jan. 31-Feb. 1, 2008. On Friday, Jan. 25th I received a phone call from the company that was actually going to move my family. They proceeded to tell me I need to pay upfront the whole cost and that it might cost me more once they arrived in Alaska since I was considered an "International Move".

I informed this gentleman from (don't remember name of company but telephone number 201-714-4043) that I would not pay up front and Will from World Moving Services never informed me of that information . I told him that I would not pay them before I received my goods and didn't like the thought that he could charge me more for a unknown amount.

I called Will back at World Moving services on Jan. 25 and informed him I wanted my deposit back and did not want to use that company if I had to pay up front and have a possibility of owing more at the end of the move. Will informed me that that was incorrect and he would call me right back.

Four hours later, I called him back wanting to know why I had not received a call back and he stated everyone was gone. He said not to worry he would take care of it and call me back on Jan. 26.

No phone call back, so I decided to call on Jan. 28 giving him the benefit of the weekend. No phone call back. I called the supervisor and she informed me, to bad to sad. That I am to late to get my refund back and I needed to cancel by Jan. 25.

However, in the contract in states that if I informed them of an "intent to cancel or hold" within 5 business days I could receive my deposit back.

NEVER NEVER use World Moving Services, my contract even reads differently than what he quoted me over the phone.

DISHONEST AND NO INTEGRITY on the part of Will, #442 and the company World Moving Services.

dispute charges

AUTHOR: Sharon - Alexandria (U.S.A.)

If you paid the deposit by credit card, dispute the charges.

That phone number is for Cross Country Van Lines, which has complaints all over the web. You did the right thing by cancelling.

Submit your phone bill with the call from CCVL and the subsequent one to WMS highlighted as proof.
