I had to move from an apt in Bethesda to a house in Kensington and needed storage containers to facilitate the move. I called Store to Door and BoxCart and ended up going with BoxCart.
BoxCart uses a standard form so make sure everything they promise you over the phone is in the contract. They like to conduct business over the phone and now I see why. Also, don't use their credit card authorization form. Write a check instead, if you must use them.
I was pleased with the contact I had with the sales rep and I have no complaints with the movers. My issues came when I wanted the containers picked up.
I emailed BoxCart on Tuesday (8/25) asking if they could pick up their three containers on Friday (8/28). I got a call from the sales rep, who told me they were very busy and he couldn't get someone out until the following Wed (9/2). I said the containers will be ready to go if they get an opening before Wed. I emailed them on Friday (8/28), reminding them that the containers were ready to be picked up if they had an opening before Wednesday.
Today, Wed (9/2), I called BoxCart to ask if the containers were picked up or were going to be picked up and I was told by the owner that the schedule said Wednesday (9/3) and he would have someone come pick them up Thursday. I informed him of the above and he became very belligerent and yelled at me about why he didn't understand why my move was arranged the way it was. I told him that I didn't see how that's my problem. I told him how in the beginning of trying to figure out my move, I called BoxCart and Store to Door to see about their services and he told me I should have gone with Store to Door. I asked if he could waive the $75 pick up fee for their mistake and he told me that was unreasonable and why should he do that. I said because it shows good faith. He said his apology should be enough. I then told him that I don't feel comfortable recommending BoxCart to my friends and family and he said good, I don't want people like you calling me. I have never been treated so rudely before and was shocked at the way he conducted his business.
Please think twice about using this company.
