This moving company provided a quote for moving our furniture from San Antonio Texas to Las Vegas Nevada. We scheduled the move for two days before closing of the sell of our home. The day of the move they show up with a rental truck that is too small to pack our furniture. The mover in charge also explains there is an additional charge to wrap and pack all the furniture. This fee was several thousand dollars on top of the original quote. Due to the time line and situation we had no choice but pay the additional wrapping fees. ( I should of known at that point that the best thing to do was to find another moving company no matter what the price) We wanted to purchase moving insurance for our furniture but the insurance agency said because this company was using a rented storage facility to store our furniture, they would not be able to insure our furniture. This left us with .60 cents per pound compensation for any damage, loss or stolen items. The packing and move required two days and three trips in the rental truck to pack out the house. Our belongings went into some rented wharehouse and we went to Las Vegas. We purchased a house in Vegas and called for our belongings. The delivery drivers brought our furniture and I am overwhelmed at the damage to our furniture that has been caused. I must admit that I am surprised it showed up at all. We noted the damage and filed the claim and here we sit waiting for .60 cents a pound compensation. We conceded to 1138 pounds of damage when in reality there is several thousands dollars of damage done to our high end furniture, scratched, broken and generally treated like it belonged in a collage dorm room. Now it appears that Ultimate Van Lines is out of business. No wonder!!! There needs to be some accountability for the moving business! Not just with Ultimate Van lines but the whole industry. Where do we start and what do we do????
