I was a young college grad looking for anything to pay off my student loan, save money for grad school and any future travels abroad and to cushion my brand new life away from my parents. Lo and behold, I find several promising jobs on careerbuilder and I apply for them. One of them being DKL Marketing.
Harmless enough, they train you, you train more people and they train more people. They promise an immediate opening and a decent salary if you don't sell or hardly sell at all. The promise fast advancement with 6 figure salaries and everyone in the office is super nice. What they don't mention is the 70 hour workweek, the fact that you have to come in earlier on the weekends (yes, 10 hours a day everyday) or the fact that they don't pay you your first week because you were "training".
Now, I'm up to my eyeballs in bull**it, I can't see DirecTV without cringing and I'm telling all of my friends to get rid of DirecTV to make them open their eyes to see what is happening to their service.
Now my feet are killing me from going up and down aisles in stores, my car is f**ked from all that driving from store to store and the worst part is that I signed up for a lease on a new apartment and I have to look for another job to cover my non existent credit report.
Thanks, career builder, you really did help jumpstart my "career". I'm going to delay grad school another year, I've dug myself a huge hole without realizing it and I got word whipped from a lawyer, a hobo and my dad.
Fun...
