I was a GDI member for more than 2 years and decided to cancel the account.I wrote in to their support two times on how to cancel the account but never get any reply (you can check their record on this).
After some research over the internet, I gathered that I have to follow their policy that requires members to call in to their USA office to cancel the account, I then called several times and managed to get through. However, each time, their phone system put me on hold for a long time until I gave up as my overseas phone bill was killing me.
I then changed to a different credit card for the monthly payment via their system and double checked that it was correctly effected. To my surprise, I still got billed via my old credit card. Upon checking via their system, I discovered that they have reverted to my old credit card for the monthly billing without my authorisation. I felt that this is a most unethical business practice. GDI should be investigated for this. I would suggest that the relevant US authorities audit their computer system to verify this fact.
Till today, I'm still stuck with my GDI account as it is not easy to escape from their clutches.
Overall, I got the impression that GDI wanted to make it difficult for their members (especially overseas members) to cancel their account in order to make money.
It may not be a scam, but it is certainly an unethical company.
Now that GDI knows that I'm an unhappy customer and wanted to desperately get out, I doubt they will ever help me to cancel my account!
