I worked for DialogueDirect coincidentally in Portland a year ago and everything written in "Disgruntled Dialoguer"'s report runs contrary to my experience. I just googled them to look up some old friends, and I can’t believe the things I’m reading. I started my employment with them the same way, I replied to a craigslist ad and the phone representative called me, told me about the job and set up an interview. There were no surprises or tricks up their sleeves, because the "administrator" who interviewed me told me all about how the pay was hourly plus performance based bonuses, and that you had to sign up three new sponsors a day from your third week on with them. I knew the job had expectations and goals, what job doesn't?
My first week there was nerve racking, but the manager and my team helped me through it. Its alot like a sales environment, there is incentives, teambuilding games, and motivational speeches. But if you didn't expect that, why did you take the job? The charities DialogueDirect works with are counting on them to bring in new sponsors and help these needy kids all around the world. Those street fundraisers or "dialoguers" help facilitate that goal.
The “Disgruntled Dialoguer"'s report says that he was penalized for signing up the same sponsor twice. Sorry dude, all jobs have rules, from what I remember of my time there, they had a training process and a code of conduct, where they tell you the "do's and dont's" of the job.
Oh and the pay was awesome. Payroll check with your hourly every week, and bonuses every three weeks. There is a three week verification process of the donor, but those bonuses DO come through as long as those credit/debit/checking accounts were valid. Disgruntled Dialoguer, maybe instead of taking the passive aggressive approach here, you should have called their headquarters and asked what the result was of those sponsorships.
One final thing..Disgruntled Dialoguer mentions the turnover at dialogue direct, describing it with a derogatory inappropriate term that does a disservice to the memory of holocaust victims that I refuse to repeat, but I will say that its a performance based environment, just like sales, there is going to be turnover of the people that don’t meet the goals. A company cannot keep underperforming employees on its payroll, it bankrupts them.
It sounds like "Disgruntled Dialoguer” is exactly that disgruntled, but it’s likely not for the reasons he/she stated. I advise anyone to take "Disgruntled Dialoguer”’s opinion with a very large grain of salt.
