Banco Popular Worst bank/financial institution/customer service- EVER San Juan Internet

For anyone considering opening an internet bank account with Banco Popular: don't do it. I've spent a total of 8 hours on hold trying to order checks, order a bank card, deposit funds, and close my account. First of all they continually spell my name incorrectly, even after several attempts to correct it. They make it impossible to order checks and you have to keep calling and sending in a signature form, and the wait time is always more than 30 minutes. On several occasions I have waited 45 minutes on hold only to be hung up on by customer service. Often I wait for 20-30 minutes only to have the voice menu suddenly switch to switch to Spanish so I can't understand the options and have to hang up and try again. When you call the number to order checks someone will answer and tell you that you need to be transferred to a different number, often another 30 minute ordeal. I tried to deposit funds into my account only to have the transaction reversed even though the funds were in place to be transferred. Finally I got fed up and tried to close my account and after waiting 45 minutes (twice) on hold they told me I would have to come into the branch, which is a problem since it is an E Account and I don't live near a branch, which is why I opened an E Account to begin with! They then told me I could pay to have a letter notarized and fax it to them to close the account. This has been the most frustrating banking experience of my life and I hope no one else has to waste their time and effort with this company.
