I logged in to my Bank of America online bank account today (6/14/07) only to find an unusual check posted to my account. The amount was for $99.75 and the check number was #30000 (way out of range).

I "viewed" the check only to find it was an obvious electronically generated check with my name PRINTED in the signature area.

My address in the upper-left-hand corner was INCORRECT. It just said "Hartford, CT 06115" under my full name.
The check was pay to the order of: "Intabill".
The Memo said: "Monthly Sub - Jan-May"
The Date was "6/11/2007"

I Googled "Intabill" and found this report: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/253/RipOff0253414.htm

with this Rebuttal: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/253/RipOff0253414.htm#239550

I immediately call Bank of America (BOA), and they said I was in time for them to "refuse" payment. They also informed me that I should change bank accounts because "Intabill" will try to charge me again.

BOA also indicated that this happening a lot recently and that they're adding "Intabill" to their "bad list".

This is a major inconvenience to me because of my direct deposit and all my bill paying I use this account for. It's going to be quite a hassle to change over.

I'm also concerned about security and how my name and bank account was captured by either "Intabill" or the imposters.

BOA claims that it is not a problem on their end. I wonder, though. Anyone getting this problem at other banks?

EDitor's Suggestions on how to get your money back!

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: “we could not do anything for you” or “you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days”.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.

CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember… Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

And good luck… Let us know how you do!

Inta Bill is not Intabill.com - case started with Bank of America and law enforcement

AUTHOR: Andrew - Brisbane (Australia)

Intabill.com is not related in any way to the 'Inta Bill' beneficiary that charged your account - and because these transactions are most likely fraudulent, we encourage you to contact your bank and petition to have the charges reversed. If, however, you are keen on finding out exactly 'who' is doing this and because these particular charges have been happening to at least a dozen or so people that we are aware of, you can help us through the private investigation firm Integrity Bank Card integritybankcard.net) we have hired that specializes in this particular industry. Our contact at Integrity Bankcard is David Press. Please feel free to contact him, or contact your local law enforcement to work with Mr. Press to help us in bringing justice to the perpetrators of this crime.

David Press is in contact with Bank of America in California where these checks are being deposited and has started an investigation both with the International Fraud Department of the Bank of America as well as law enforcement there. Please send to Mr. Press a clear copy of the front and back of the check that was presented against your account.

Intabill.com takes online fraud very, very seriously - and we take it very personally when our name is being dragged through the mud. We will do whatever we can to help in this situation.

If you have any further questions, comments or even complaints, please feel free to contact me directly at 312-961-3005.

Best,
Andrew T

Did research on this Andrew T!

AUTHOR: Brilynn - Pahoa (U.S.A.)

Ok I am one of the complaintant on this intabill fraud too! What I am trying to find out is why is this person Andrew T who says to contact him answering everyone with the same message when he is just the tech or so called tech for that company? Shouldn't the owner of that company be the one answering the questions instead of the tech. It seems that no one else is helping him out and if he has started the investigations why hasn't it stopped?

Is anyone else confused about that person? I am which is why I file a complaint with the FTC with my bank and Bank of America.

Another thing is if Bank of America is putting intall bill on thier list of doing business with them then why haven't they stop that company and returned all the monies to everyone that the company has fradulantly taken from them?

andrew form intabill

AUTHOR: Debbie - Bay Village (U.S.A.)

I have written to this Andrew His name is andrew thornhill his email is andrew.t@antabill.com. This company is out of Australia and He is from Illinos. So I am not sure who he really is. He responded to my email assuring me this company is not to blame because it started in Californina and then the money when overseas. I know Im not brillent but Were is Aulstralia? Overseas! off shore!
Here is a copy of the email I sent

Hello Sir,

I am also a victim for this sick scam. Im not sure how you can say intabill is not responsible concidering if you search the internet the only one that comes up is the company you work for, no matter how you spell it intabill , Intabill , inta bill , inta-bill, ect.

How can you be positive that someone at this company is not scamming people and sending these fake checks to california and having a contact there deposit them and rip innocent people off . You can not possiblly know what everyone in that company is doing at every minute of the day.

I am not just doing this for me and my family but all the other people that have been hurt by this sick game that someone is playing. I have filed a report with ripped off also my local police department, also a fraud claim and investigation with my bank, also filed a fraud claim, and investigation with the BBB , I also filed a identity theft reoprt the the federal trade commision that will also promt a investigation ,and with the F.B.I.

So as you can see I was the wrong person to do this to, and whom ever may be responsible the thruth will come out with all these investigations happening, I have copies of all that I have claimed to have done, this is no joke on my behalf.

Now I hope justice is served and whom ever is responsible for this fraud may it be in your company or elsewhere be caught and severly punished for hurting innocent people who work hard for very little money.

Thank You for your time

Here is his response

I thank you for the email that you sent. I sincerely hope that you push this matter as far as possible with the local and federal authorities as much as you can. Spoofing checks with a fake name beneficiary is actually far more easy to do than you might imagine (all a criminal needs is your bank account number, the 9 digit routing number and a willing bank to pass the money) and I can assure you that we have absolutely nothing do so with this because our ACH program is run by a bank as a white label program and it is a very small part of our business. Our program is US domestic and the fraudulent checks are being presented to a Bank of America in California (a bank in which we do not use) and then taken immediately offshore (as far as we can tell). We are already cooperating with the Bank of America, a special anti-fraud team in place there, local police there and the FBI since this scam covers several states (though still less than several dozen victims US wide).

In the end for sure the truth will come out and we are spending thousands of dollars to help get to the bottom of this. If you would like to assist, or would like to point the investigative authorities in a general direction please contact our private investigator David Press at Integrity Bankcard (www.integritybankcard.net). There is no cost to you for contacting Integrity Bankcard and we will not stop until we figure out who and what is at the bottom of this mess.

Andrew Thornhill

Go to your banks everyone file a fraud claim form, they have to do it and open a envestigation. Dont take no for a answer file claims everywhere I did It gets it in the data base for all law enforcments to see. Good luck

Debbie

Is there a GreenZap tie-in?

AUTHOR: Tom - NotHappening (U.S.A.)

I noticed one other person mentioned GreenZap in their report. I used GreenZap ONCE about 18 months ago. with the very same bank account that Intabill illegally charged. Is there a GreenZap breach? Anybody else use GreenZap?

At first I was thinking it was a Bank of America problem.

Update: I notified Bank of America of the bad charge the same day it happened, so they did NOT make the payment to Intabill, and I had my money back in my account within 24 hours.

AUTHOR: Barbara - N/a (U.S.A.)

ripoffreport.com/reports/0/255/ripoff0255836.htm - please click on my ripoff report and click again on andrew T at the bottom and get the information I just listed for both companies. Green Zap seems to be a Sprint Company or somebody from sprint is running it. Check it out and see if you can get any information from any of those emails I listed.

Thank you.

#7 Consumer Suggestion

Update on contacts. Please read.

AUTHOR: Barbara - N/a (U.S.A.)

I need to make a few corrections in the last report I filed. I called Florida and spoke with Charles Charmatz of Newcom who is the ISP for Intabill. They only host the Intabill account, not own it. He said to make a complaint about them, you should email abuse@powermedium.com and if they investigate it and see that something is wrong, they will stop powering their site. I sent them a copy of the bogus check so they could see it was paid to Intabill. Send them a copy of your check also and if they received enough inquiries, they will have no alternative but to check this company out.

Also, email abuse-quiet@sprint.net if you think Green Zap had something to do with this. Either way, you'll be covering all ends.

Make waves and let these people know we are not going to stand still and let them rip us off. Also, the email for Andrew Thornhill doesn't work. The slug closed it, I'm sure.
