Magic Jack Can't cancel annual fee - perpetually on hold by phone or online - want me to pay $38 to cancel fast, Internet

Magic Jack asks for a credit card and imposes an annual fee. The fee is about $30 a year. I used their hardware for making phone calls and found the setup requirements (a computer must be online at all times) did not justify the savings.
I decided to cancel the annual fee. I spent half an hour getting customer service phone numbers and waiting for a response. Ironically, the phone service recommended that customers use their online service. I did that. On my iPhone I have been waiting for 90 minutes for someone to answer my "LiveChat" with a "Liveperson".
Anyone thinking about buying a MagicJack should reconsider on the basis of the poor customer service. There is a technical service that promises quick response. I tried that and they don't answer questions unless you pay a starting fee for $38.

Hope it helps....but don't think it will.
You may not cancel additional years of service unless you purchased said plan with a 30 Day FREE Trial, at which time you may return said plan within these 30 days. All other refunds will be rejected.

Read the terms prior to purchasing additional years.
You were GIVEN a huge discount when you did buy more years. So what if you now want to cancel. They allow cancelling. They simply do not OWE you a refund. You already bought at a HUGE discount.
Sometimes consumers need to get a grip on over buying when they have a product that they are not familiar with.
I was a former magic jack user and the President of the company personally worked to resolve my cancellation...that is how HANDS on the guy is. He has nothing by earnest intent for the consumer...
Maybe you can contact him ? Doubt he can give you a refund but he sure as heck wouldn't want his reputation ruined from this style of report. His business information and contact information can be found online. Do the research. .

I did not get a Multiyear discount - it was just put on automatic renewal. Tell your CEO friend that Magic Jack is like a Roach Motel. Easy to get on and hard to get out. A responsible business will make it as easy to leave as it is to join.

You were given the terms and conditions . Its your responsiblity to read it prior to claiming FOUL.
You had 30 days from sign up to cancel. So that is on you not to read the fine print. Or are you saying that in your mind that you are perpetually stuck with this yearly fee and cannot cancel moving forward?
As to the CEO, there again you are making an insinuation about a business that is false. He is neither a personal friend but is a person that when I had to escalate my concerns and get resolution, he got it done. That is a fact...jack :P
So stay a displeased consumer out of ignorance. You were given a recommendation and chose to spit upon the concept. So be it.
