I do feel for your situation but there is no discrimination.

The last time I checked everyone can get a pre-paid card, not just people on assistance.  I also know of no law that says a person who receives assistance can not get a regular credit card or bank account.

If that is your choice to not have a regular account, then that is YOUR choice.  And quite frankly for some people that is a very good idea that they do not have credit or bank acounts.  But you will also find a lot of places do not accept those pre-paid or pre-loaded cards.  Just try and rent a car or check into a hotel with one.

If it is a case that you can't get a credit card or bank account because of previous credit issues then why should a company be forced to rent to someone who has credit issues.  

But if you do file a lawsuit please post all of the court information here.

    Why do you think that you should be the one who decides what form of payment is acceptable to Netflix?  They could require payment only in cash or gold bullion if they wanted to.  It's their choice.

    A preloaded card is not the same as a bank debit or credit card.   I think that if you look, you'll find a large number of companies that will not accept such a card for recurrent billing.   The main reason is that many people just toss them when they are empty.  That's a problem for a company that depends on recurrent monthly billing and not as much of a problem with credit cards and debit cards that are linked to bank accounts.

  No.  There is nothing preventing people on government assistance from having a valid bank account.

What Recourse Would A Prepaid Card Offer To A Merchant Who Is Being Ripped Off?

This is a case of a person only viewing the world from their perspective.

If Netflix accepts Pre-Paid Cards, then when a Netflix Customer doesn't return the item sent to them Netflix has no way of charging the customer because you can't charge on a Prepaid card that has a zero or insufficient balance.

Netflix couldn't charge your monthly dues to your account if you CHOOSE to have insufficient funds to provide for their payment.

Yes, Big Business can be brutal, but wow, they should be entitled to protect their own interests without bogus, frivolous lawsuits abounding.  What do you think is an INHERENT HUMAN RIGHT about getting movie service???  Criminy, that couldn't be more of a PRIVILEGE if I had to find an example of the difference between what a human in this world is entitled to, and what are LUXURIES.

The above poster is so correct, you CHOOSE to have a prepaid card, you aren't REQUIRED to have one.  You aren't REQUIRED to have anything other than cash, period.

Just like all other posters IF Netflix accepted prepaid cards then they would lose alot of movies and MONEY@!! Netflix is a monthly service that requires a MONTHLY charge to make money to pay their employees, overhead, etc etc. I have Netflix and I pay every month through my debit card.  GET A BANK ACCOUNT! Jees

yes I can get a bank account, but that is not the point. The point is that I do have a debit Mastercard, and NO where on the card does it state that it is a "prepaid" or preloaded.

And all Netflix says on their website is a VAILD credit or debit card, which I have and the company that issued  it says that it is NOT a perpaid or preloaded.

And yes it is discriminnation, when a company or group puts a group of people in a separate class. Lets say a company tells you cant get a service from them because you are disabled. That is what Netflix is doing.

So if there is anyone who can explain to me why it is NOT discrimination then please do so.

NetFlix wants bank account access, or credit card access so they can 1). charge you for movies you dont return, or 2).  pay for the monthly service charges.

It sounds like you are being paid for your state and federal assistance by getting a master card debit card.  This is preloaded by the govt each and every month.  They will not accept these, because there is no guarentee that there will be money there each and every month.

Take your preloaded mastercard, and go open up a bank account, and take the money off the card, and deposit it into a bank account.  end of story.

Nobody will be able to explain this any clearer than it is here, because you are too stupid to understand this.

Is this why you are receiving state, and federal assistance?????????

 

 

You are just complaining to complain.

1)This is not discrimination it's business.  I would not accept a prepaid card either for recurrent billing.  I have used Netflix for years and have nothing but good things to say about my experience.  I find their service wonderful and easy to deal with. I have also never had any problems billing a "REAL" debit card either. 

2)Get a job so you stop having so much time to spend on the internet finding things to bother with.  I don't usually comment on these types of ignorant topics, but this one I couldn't pass up.  Don't give us all a sob story either about why you are so disabled and can't work...you can type decent enough and there are plenty of desk jobs for you out there so please stop wasting our tax dollars on your internet connection and do something useful.  A lawsuit is just another way for a person like you to get free money without earning it.  We wonder why the US is going broke...

 What if I wanted to buy a house with pennies.  Is it discrimination when they don't want to spend 2 years counting pennies.  Yes its legal tender, but come on.  Take a moment and relax.  Now try to see why Netflix does not accept your form of preferred payment.  I am certain that they would love to take your money if they weren't opening themselves up for losses.

I think this also bears being said.  Those on assistance, meaning those whom have chosen to live beyond their means, did not get enough education, will not manage their finances, will not move to where the jobs are, (or take your pick from the hundreds of reasons why you are on assistance) do not have my sympathy because a large company simply wants a less risky form of payment from its customers.  Take the $ and perhaps spend it on something that is a need rather than a want.  Especially considering its not your money, but the money from those whom have chosen to do what it takes to keep their jobs and pay taxes so you can have free cellphone, entertainment, etc.

Be less of a sponge and less of a whiner and grow up.

 

 

I too have a prepaid card I'll use once in a while. I also have Netflix... I use my pay pal account to pay that way if for any reason the pre paid doesn't have funds on it, Netflix has a back up source of payment.

...Not to mention that government cards/assistance are not intended to pay for things such as entertainment or Netflix...

Just a suggestion, quit playing the victim. Only you can pull yourself up and out of perpetual victimhood. Take responsibility for yourself, get a bank account and instead of blaming others for your own ineptitude, work to be an independent, productive member of society.   A buddy of mine got both legs, half an arm and an eye blown off when we were in Afghanistan, and nobody would have blamed him if he would have just sat back and collected his disability check. Instead, he worked hard, figured out how to use his prostetics and now he trains guys getting ready for deployment.

Whenever I think that I might be going through a tough time, I give him a call just to make sure he is doing ok and lo and behold I am inspired to push through whatever hardship I may be having. I'm not sure if you want people feeling sorry for you, but you aren't getting it from me. Besides, do you really want a pity party?

Your lawsuit is going to be laughed out of court if any lawyer will even take your case. Get off your butt, get a job and quit living off of hard working people. This is gonna give my buddy a good laugh.

Everyone has clearly explained why they do not accept that form of payment. I'm a young girl & have a free bank account & credit union account. It's not only for the rich to have a debit card or checking account! If I was a business I would not accept a pre-paid card for recurring payments either. Get a checking account & get money off the card with a cash advance. Better yet I should get some government assistance because I'm a struggling college student trying to pay for everything myself! I pay taxes out of every check. The last thing I want to hear is someone complaining they can't pay for Netflix with their government assistance!

I have a problem with this I am not lazy but I a, disabled but I also have a real bank account.
