I listed and sold a book on CD through Amazon.Com. The book sold quickly for the asking price and I was instructed by Amazon to get it shipped quickly (at my expense) and pay for a proof of delivery service. I sent the book out the next day using the USPS and the requested proof of delivery service at a cost of $4.97.

Amazon promises that the shipping cost and book selling amount less a small handling fee will be paid promptly to the seller.

I was then notified that the recipient had paid the bill to Amazon and acknowledged receiving the book. Amazon then notified me that I would have to provide more information on my seller account to be paid the funds I had coming for the transaction. Specifically, they wanted access to my checking account at my local bank and wanted the routing and account numbers for the account. I refused to give them this information and their response then was to close the seller account. 

Every month they send out checks to accounts that have been closed but still have a positive balance in them and I would receive a check in the mail at that time.

Four months ago I closed the account and requested a check. I have never received a check from them. I still get emails about every two weeks asking me to update the banking information on my (now closed) seller account so they can pay me. Numerous attempts to request a check go into outer space somewhere and are never responded to.

I have now given the book away for free to a customer of Amazon's and paid the postage to ship it to them out of my pocket.

Amazon already had and still has a C.C. on file for my purchasing account, they adamantly refuse to credit that account, which I assumed they would do. I subsequently ordered goods from Amazon and attempted to use the credit on my account, again they adamantly refuse to do that either.

Do not do business with Amazon as a seller using their Seller Central program.
