First, this retailer claimed that they: "included the accessories in the price of the costume without raising the price of the costume and shipped the accessories to the customer free of charge"
This is misleading because:
1) It implies that the retailer did something, other than posting this rebuttal, to resolve the situation which they have not done. Neither my original attempts to contact the company nor this report have resulted in any response, to me, from this company.
2) It dodges the original complaint. The accessories WERE included in the price of the costume. The website expressly stated that they were not. It was not a false assumption on my behalf and I have included a screenshot of the web page (taken today) that shows that they are still claiming this item does not include the accessories (specifically the wig and beard) directly above the words "Sorry this item is out of stock". At the checkout, they suggest purchasing the accessories separately which is where the additional charges come in. Since they are in fact included, you end up with duplicates that you did not need.
Second, the retailer claims that they: "have a very reasonable return policy which is posted on the site."
Their policy IS reasonable, however their mechanism for processing (the online form) is completely inflexible and it doesn't account for a mistake of this nature. This could be forgivable if the company had a customer service number that allowed them to handle these issues in a more personal way. They don't.
Third, the retailer stated that:
"As soon as an error is detected, it is immediately corrected."
The fact that the included image has a date (top right, below the McAfee logo) proves that the company has not corrected this error despite my contacts and this report.
Finally, they have stated that they "will make every effort to ensure that each and every customer is satisfied with our products and service."
I am a customer and I am not satisfied.
