Dr.Torre Optical 2252 W. Cermak in chicago rerally does suck.
You see I have been getting my eye exams and glasses from there for about 5 years now. Well, it has been about 3 years from when I first started getting contact and eyeglasses. So you can imagine the amount of money I was spending on both. The last time I recieved my eye exam and needed new glasses I was low on money.

So I decided to get my eye glasses and just one box of contact (which would ony be good for a max of 5 months)and maybe get more later. The I heared about a contct company that would sell me 4 boxes of contacts for just $80! That was a great deal for me I think I was paying about 60 for one bax at Torre Optical. Since I was already wearing my last pair of contacts I had thrown away the box. I happened to call the contact place since I already knew my percription but, they wanted to know the diameter and base curve of my conctacted as well.

This information was on the box I threw away and the only other place I could get it from would be the eye doctor. I told the contact lady no problem, I just give them a call. Little did I know it would be harder than I tought.

The receptionist was one of the biggest liars, first she told me it was illegal in Illinois to reveal that information to any one at anytime. That made no sense to me because why would the information be on the box of contacts?

Well, I happened to call the Contact Company back and then they tried. The receptionist then lied again and told them that they did have that information but that if I wanted contacts I could only order form them. Oh yeah thats really nice, I have been a patient for about 5 years or more and this is how they are going to be.

I called and ask to personally talk to the Dr. several times and yet I was told he was always with a patient. I left my name and number several times and yet nothing. It has been more than a week now and its still hard to believe how an Optical center could be such a jerk. I just want to inform anyone who is a patient there or is looking fo an eye Dr. to stay away form Torre Optical.

But if anyone does know of any good eye Dr. please let me know.

You were not lied to exactly

AUTHOR: A Licensed Optician - Cleveland ()

When you called the Optical to obtain your prescription, you were not lied to by the receptionist. It is illegal in most states for anyone(especially if they are not an optician) to give out an RX over the phone to anyone besides a Licensed Optician....you ARE NOT A LICENSED OPTICIAN, therefore the receptionist cannot release the RX to you.

The contact company that offered the cheap contacts probably does not employ Opticians either, therefore we cannot give them the rx via phone either.

You could go in and request a written copy of your RX, they must give you that UNLESS the RX is expired and then they don't have to give you squat!

The doctor is probably NOT purposely avoiding you....he is probably really with patients...that is their job to see patients every 15-30 minutes non-stop until they leave for the day.

Nicely call and aske the receptionist to have a written copy of the rx for you to pick up..give them 48hrs to do so!!!
