Happiness Is Pets - Steve Kruse Sells sick puppies ripoff Downers Grove Illinois

In November 2004 my husband and I bought a female Stonehenge Olde Bulldog from Happiness is Pets in Downers Grove, IL and we had no idea what we were getting into. The sales person stressed that this store only purchased dogs from a registered breeder. What a lie! This "registered" breeder was Steve Kruse.

The first night we thought it was a little weird that our new puppy slept 18 hours but we thought it was because of being at a pet store, she was tired. We scheduled a vet visit with one of their recommend vets and found out she had kennel cough. That was the beginning of all her medical problems she would face. A month later we rushed Riley to the animal ER because she was urinating blood. Three months later she was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia. In the Happiness is Pets' guarantee policy they would exchange your sick puppy, for a new one. They know that no one would give up their dog that they have bonded with for a new one.

In Riley's short life she was diagnosed with several bladder infections, parasites in her stool, bladder stones, skin infections, mange, vaginal infection, severe hip dysplasia, and an inoperable liver shunt. We tried everything we could to give her the best life spending approximately $48,000.00 in medical bills.

Unfortunately, the liver shunt was taking a toll on her little body. She was starting to go blind and none of her medications were helping. We knew she was suffering and we had to make the hardest decision to put her down. On July 24th we put our 22 month old little girl down.

I'm so upset that Steve Kruse can get away with this and that there are no laws to protect the consumers. I did get his home address and I'm going to contact PETA to see if they can help. It would be nice to get my money back but I really want Steve Kruse and Happiness is Pets to be shut down. I don't want anyone else to experience this.
