Um, why do I feel like I am being attacked for using common sense and being reasonable and informed? Do you think I know them or am affiliated with them somehow? I do not, and am not. I do however have an extensive working knowledge of animals in general, and the internet with which to research things. I do not neccesarily disagree with you, but I do not arbitrarily assume wrongness where the facts of a specific situation say otherwise. Maybe there is evidence of wrongdoing elsewhere, maybe not. I was however commenting on this specific posting, and your responses to me don't make much sense when I take that into consideration. Also I believe you can check out the article doggy in the window at the website for the American Animal Welfare Society for the results of an unbiased study which I also believe was published by the AVMA.
*No matter what you say, it's a fact that puppy mill dogs are NOT HEALTHY! - Do not now, nor have I ever disputed that fact.
*What are YOU talking about???? THESE ARE PUPPY MILL DOGS! - Maybe, possibly, even probably, but that does not change the actual facts in this specific case as stated, which is what I was commenting and responding too.
*This puppy died because it was born in a PUPPY MILL!! - easy to say, but again, the facts in this specific circumstance as stated in no way prove this. The puppy was in the owners care and control for several months, did not pass as a result of an illness which was present at the time of sale, or soon after, nor was it proved that the puppy passed of anything having to do with poor or unethical breeding, and in fact looked otherwise to me, nor did the seller break any contracts and agreements that would be to their detriment. The results were in favor of the complainant, and this was to their benefit, as I don't believe they were required by law or contract to do what they did. They fullfilled their obligations and then some.
*Too bad, this store is going down......and you know it. - Maybe. But you will most likely have to work within the law to do this, and it is admirable if this is your goal and they deserve it. But I believe the basis of most law is what is reasonable? Overzelousness doesn't tend to get you too far in that arena, and you will most likely need reasonable facts to back up your cause. So, that means cases such as above, do not likely prove your cause. Items that tend to be breed specific (it is reasonable to expect particular health problems with certain breeds), part of pet ownership (if you only expect to pay for shots and spay and neuter and such, this is NOT reasonable to me, and you should probably own a stuffed animal instead, as we are dealing with living things and all that entails), incidences in which the store upheld the law and the contract, possible owner at fault, or incidences in which there is no way to know what really ocurred are most likely NOT going to further your cause, and may in fact ensure you are taken LESS seriously if presented too often, and argued in the extreme. Local judgements do not have to be the final outcome, and it can go all the way to the supreme court. Also, if to many rediculous cases are brought up, and overturned, with all the same people involved, it may seem the store is being unfairly persecuted and harrassed, and something may be done about it. Those higher up who are aiding you in your cause, may no longer be able to aid, if everything begins to seem unreasonable in the extreme, and I have seen it all happen. There may have been different outcomes, if things had been gone about in a different manner, and that can be VERY sad. maybe you folks have found a way around it. I am not aware of what steps you are taking, and what you are using as actual facts in this cause, nor how involved you are in this cause, or if you are just a supporter. But, like I said, I have seen it. And hopefully, this will not be the case. You will also most likely have to work within the guidelines set in order to stop this breeder or broker or whoever he is. At this point, I feel compelled to note that I am not a lawyer or other like proffesional, and am simply stating my own opinions and experiencies, and observations. Please consult a proffesional.:-). And that is also really sad to me, but a different subject.
*And there is NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT THAT! - When did I say I wanted to?
*Just my opinions*
