I worked at this petsmart starting august in 2009.  i was brought in as a petcare associate.  after meeting my co-workers in petcare, i can see none of them cared or looked very pissed off at the company itself.  i didn't really understand at the time.  After about a month into my job, the petcare lead and one of the associates quit claiming the management here was very immature.  Ever since that month, My store manager sharron Taylor would start rumors about people, lie to customers about products, talk about customers (even some of my customers that came in only to see me).  She tried to put my petcare manager and me against each other by telling Cristina Davilla (my petcare manager) that i was saying she was lazy and she did nothing.

After awhile, Someone called the anonymous careline on here to tell them that Sharron was talking bad and treating her employees like crap.  For some reason she thought it was me and yelled at me iun front of a few customers saying "Thanks for the careline call i really appriciate it!"  retaliation like that especially from a store manager is against petsmart policy.  But i let it go because im a nice guy.

In a few months i got promoted to petcare lead.  i was very happy about it and did my best to do my job.  i rarely got even a thank you from Cristina for trying my hardest, cleaning up the messes she left all over the place, doing a huge list she left just me to do while she was on the petsmart phone talking to one of her 6 boyfriends, or in the office talking with her fellow managers (which were all close friends).  instead she would talk about me and my girlfriend (which was hired the same month as me). Cristina and the other management would tell her false things about me like "I was giving my numbers to random girls" and "i didn't care about her". 

One manager there Christian Williams was always hitting on her even though he knew me and her were together.  He would always say she was beautiful and what he would do to her if she wasnt with me and always asking her on dates.  I did bring it up to management that he was sexually harassing her and they didn't do anything about it.

Finally Sharron left and a new store manager Ed Skoda Came in.  I heard he was very fair and i was pleased.  i hoped he would help me with this situation.  i told him how Cristina was always saying things about me, my other co-workers, even trying to get me and my girlfriend to break up.  It was an open door policy which means anything that happens behind the door in the office stays in there.  He said he would take care of it. 

The next day everyone knew.  Which made it even worse.  Cristina told my good friend and co-worker i was the one saying things about this co-worker trying to get us to fight. 

Cristina would never tell the truth to my face. i would approach her about something i heard she said or did and she would totally deny it.  Even though i heard it from4 or 5 co-workers she would deny it.  she tried to get my girlfriend to go to a party and smoke pot with her and almost every person there.  Which is another thing.  Almost everyone there does drugs.  Cristina and Christian talk about it and Cristina goes out drinking and one time came back to work drunk.  but no one cares because the management are all close friends.

Finally, on august 26th, 2010.  I was called into the office by Ed.  There was a person named Dawn Olson on the phone from Loss prevention.  he put her on speakerphone and sat in there with me while i answered her questions.  it started out as "you've been here for over a year correct?" "you are a petcare manager correct?" 

she asked "do you have any problems with your managers?" i said no because everything died down for now.  Then she goes on to say i returned 3 things from my fish tank i bought on the 18th.  he showed me a paper with 3 recipts on it. she said "tell me whats wrong with those 3 recipts"  i returned some dead fish that day. i returned 3 neon tetras and then i returned 3 more later on.  the third recipt showed i returned 6 more neons and all my other fish, which i did return my other fish but have no idea where the 6 more neons came from.  i told her i don't know how 6 more got on there.

she went on to say what i did was punishable by jailtime and my "friends" as she called them could be in trouble too (meaning the person at the register and the person who wrote down the refund.  She had me sign all these papers and pay the 6 dollars back saying it was my responsibility to check my recipt after (which who does? i trust the person at the register to handle my refund. and it really wasn't even her fault either). then he handed to a paper which had lines to write down my personal experience in my own words about all this.  i wasn't even offered a choice on what to write.  She TOLD me what to write.  i was scared of going to jail which she told me i might and i didn't want my other co-workers to get in trouble so i did it.  i put i understand i stole 6 dollars worth of fish and all this about being a thief. 

Then after they got what the wanted out of me they fired me. right on the spot for 6 dollars.  i was so scared about jail time i didn't realize what they did.  they pressured and threatened me to put exactly what they wanted to blame it all on me.  i have a feeling management told ed some fake things about me and he was just looking for a reason to let me go.  Afterwards, other co-workers texted me saying they basically got a slap on the wrist about it.

I worked so hard at that company. now they can find someone else to lie to the customers about the diseased fish petsmart gets in.  there were always dead animals around and a sick room where we keep sick pets was always too hot.  sometimes there was no water in there for them or food.  and we would run out of bedding so people would keep them in their feces-ridden habitats.  it was the worst place ever.  The management is so childish and immature.  Kathy in Grooming, the petcare team minus cristina, and the cashiers do a really great job.  The others not so much.  Don't let them lie to you about "our fish are fine" or "they're supposed to look like that"  because they're not. and i have pictures to prove it.  i took pictures of the animals in the back room that have no food or water, the dirty backroom where stuff is thrown around all over, a bird that was dead on the floor because of poor circulation. and alot more.

So next time you go into Schererville petsmart and see any of their management by the names of Cristina Davilla, Missy Lindstrot, or Christian Williams. Let them know they are scumbags! and please dont apply there you will certainly regret it.

Hi, I have some comments/questions for you:

1.       If you worked at PetSmart starting in August of 2009, and you seen it was such a “horrible” place to work-why did you stay? Why did you accept a lead position if you were being treated so horribly?

2.       I also know that most companies have “restrictions” about family members or boyfriend and girlfriend working at the same store, so how did you both get hired? Perhaps one of you said you were not dating.

3.       As far as someone telling you thank-you-it is your job no one gets a thank you all the time.

4.       You want to name a “Christian Williams” as hitting on your girlfriend-my question to you would be-“WHY DIDN’T SHE REPORT IT? “The fact you said it was brought to management and nothing was ever done about it I found VERY difficult to believe. As there are so many laws in effect and PetSmart would have been fined very heavily.

5.       I will agree that the manager, Sharon was a piece of work. I have been in that store plenty of times and seen how she treated her staff. I once even said something to her as I felt she WAS rude.  I also agree that Missy has a major attitude. But NEVER had I had a problem with ANY of the other managers.

6.       One would assume that you are all adults, so your comment about your co-workers and managers trying to get you and your girlfriend to “break-up” sounds like you should be in an elementary schoolyard-not a workplace.

7.       You talked about Cristina and you state she denied what you approached her about-this is a simple case of he said-she said.

8.       You state that everyone there does drugs. So that would be including you and your girlfriend then. Since it is everyone. You claimed Cristina came to work drunk-then why wouldn’t you call the store manager-if you were there then it was YOUR responsibility to call.

9.       You state you were called into the office and asked if there was a problem-you state you said no because things had calm down-however you previously stated that one of the other managers was always getting drunk, another one was hitting on your girlfriend-so how was that NOT a problem?

10.   You state that you were fired for $6.00 dollars. Like stealing only $6.00 is not illegal. You state that they told you what to write down-I don’t believe that.

11.   You state for people when they go into the store to call these people scumbags-why are you such a coward to say something to their face?

12.   You also stated that the cashiers are great-let me guess your girlfriend is a cashier.

13.   If you took pictures of the conditions you have claimed the store to be in-then why HAVEN’T YOU reported it?

14.   Also, you state that Cristina was on the phone with one of her 6 boyfriends-how do you know how many boyfriend she had-maybe you wanted to be one of them?

Let me tell you what I think happened:

You were fired for stealing and are upset. You want to cast the blame on other people. You contradicted yourself but stating that the manager ED gave you a paper and for you to write down in your happened in your OWN words. Then you state that you weren’t given a choice. –So which was it? If it was an honest mistake I wouldn’t say I was a thief. You state you wanted to protect other people-again your girlfriend must have been the cashier. You worked there you knew what you were supposed to get back.

 You obviously can’t be trusted as you and your girlfriend lied about being together. Before you state different on that-when I read this I called to PetSmart Corporate office and asked the employee rules on two (2) employees dating working/being hired in the same store-IS NOT ALLOWED!

Your girlfriend most likely wanted to make you jealous so she said this manager, Christian was hitting on her. Yet SHE never reported it so right there is a MAJOR red flag.

You claim that people are doing drugs and drinking-what STOPPED YOU FROM CALLING THE POLICE IF THERE WAS ILLEGAL ACTIVITY?

I hope the staff at PetSmart see this and sue you for slander-because that is exactly what this is. You were worried about jail-I hope you are worried about it again. You are naming these people and you have NO PROOF I’m sure (you would have reported it if you had).

I have purchased animals from PetSmart and have been very happy with them.

THE ONE thing I will agree with you on is that Sharon and Missy are horrible to their staff.

I personally have dealt with Christian and I found him to be very courteous to not only myself, but to the other customers. He was very helpful when I brought in my nieces and explained the difference in the fish and the care for them.

Cristiana always has a smile on her face and has been very welcoming when I have taken my sister’s dog in.

I don’t understand why you just didn’t accept the fact that you WERE caught stealing and was fired because of it.

One thing that would make anyone who reads this know you are a person with a grudge would be your timeline. Why would you stay for so long if you were unhappy? You don’t say your girlfriend quit, so it is clear, NOTHING is bothering her.

You are most likely wondering WHY I responded to this ad: I was in the store and was in line to pay for my items and your girlfriend was speaking with another employee. Your girlfriend was telling another employee about what you did.

So tonight during my quite time, I decide to look it up, and decided to write about this.

I believe you have a right to “speak out”, but I do not believe you have a right to slander anyone, or try to cause harm.

HR handled this already and i can't take it down.  Thanks for the emails i got from everyone to help back me up i really appreciate it!  I consider this report void! : )
