First of all--I don't pay workers to just sit around. A supervisor leads by example, not with a book. Secondly, a supervisor who can't get control over his workers shouldn't be working for me. Those two brothers described still work for me on occasion and usually do an exemplary job. That's why they are still around. I don't remember hiring anyone to watch over them, since they have their own car, and get the job done. I don't know of many businesses that pay for a guys gas/time to get to his work, buy him lunch, etc. I do require that all workers take at least a 30 minute lunch break--longer when its over 100 degrees.
When we layout a pool, we've NEVER used flags, so that raises some questions about the legitimacy of this complaint. We haven't subcontracted our pool excavation in four years (as of 09') and have had ONLY the one excavation crew working for us. Frankly, I can't remember this employee—if he even exists. It is common practice for a customer to change the shape, length, and width of a pool as we layout on the ground—it's their pool , not mine.
Our BBB record speaks for itself--2 complaints in 25 years is unheard of for a company of our size. In the past three years we've won the "Best of San Diego" Union-Tribune readers poll and came in second place twice. Our customer satisfaction is constantly rated in the top echelon of pool contractors time, and time again. Superior Pools strives to treat our employees with respect, as an integral part of our family business. Most of our employees have been working with us for over 20 years—some second generation. Read this complaint twice and you'll see the absurdity in it.
