I have a contract for a pool opening with Dover Pools for 2008. It was prepaid with a check. I was called this morning from Carlton Pools informing me that Dover Pools has closed. Carlton is trying to help Dover's customers by offering discounts, etc. I was told if I had paid by credit card, I may be able to collect that way. Unfortunately, I used a check as Dover Pools would charge to my card on file without my authorization. I prepaid $523.23 for closing 2007 and opening Spring 2008. Therefore, I'm out for 1/2 of that amount.

i can help

AUTHOR: Froggy - North Brunswick (U.S.A.)

hi, my name is sara. i decided to look up dover pools on ripoffreport and noticed that you wrote a report about dover pools. if you remember a man by the name john paul he used to own dover pools until his partner stole all the money. the one person who i call tell you to speak to is actually john paul himself. a brand new pool store called Sunshine Factory Pool Outlet just opened up in april and i do work there along with john paul. Alot of the customers that have come in have recognized john from dover and remember him being helpful and his old partner being an a-hole. the store is open m-sat 10-8pm and sun 12-5pm. i dont work there on the weekends but on monday memorial day the store will be open from 9-4. if you'd like the number to the store is 732-363-4447.

Sara--get the real story

AUTHOR: Avp73 - Miami Beach (U.S.A.)

Sara,

Get your facts straight. John Paul was not a partner in Dover Pools. (there are no partners in a corporation) NOR did the owner "steal all the money". Dover Pools went out of business due to the decline in the economy, as did thousands of businesses across the United States.

John Paul was manager and above ground pool salesmen, and he was the true "a-hole" as you put it. Even his family members who are also in the swimming pool business will agree to that.

Sara, if you want to gain business...don't do it by spreading lies or name calling.

The real story on Dover Pools

AUTHOR: fred - GALLOWAY (United States of America)

Firstly, Jim's report is similar to many pool owners who had made made payments to Dover Pools, for closing/opening contracts, and lost their money.

Sara's comments about John Paul and  Dover Pools, are not accurate, and neither is the rebuttal #2. Dover Pools was the trade name for B.G.Pools Inc, which was an S. Corporation, with 3 Partners, John Paul being one of them. Mr.Paul was V.P. and G.M. and sold Aboveground Pools and Spas. The Company was in business from late 1982 till late 2007, and at one time was one of the top Pool Companies in New Jersey. The declining economy in 2007 was a contributuing factor for Dover Pools going out of business, but the Comany was really having problems well before that. Everything I have said here is accurate and factual, and not my opinion.
