Pool Thing, located in Tempe, Arizona, is a provider of electronic salt chlorination systems. This system provides sanitation for the pool, eliminating the need to manually add chlorine / sanitizer products.

I had two Pool Thing chlorinators installed for my residential pool and both systems failed. I patiently attempted to work with Pool Thing representatives to resolve the issues but ended up with empty promises. Pool Thing communicated that they were aware of a defective controllers and that I was on the list to receive udpated components to resovle the issue. I never heard from them again. I attempted over 20 calls to a voice mail for service without response. I then called and asked to have the owner of the company call me to discuss the issues but I was never contacted.

I do not recommend the Pool Thing product to consumers or pool contractors whenever possible. Pool Thing is a coward run company and several other honorable businesses provide better products and services.

Pool Thing Brand System Service from APJ Corporation

AUTHOR: Alan - Scottsdale (USA)

I am the president of APJ Corporation, the exclusive manufacturer of Pool Thing brand systems since January 2008. I just saw this Ripoff Report from Scott in Mesa today.

I have researched our records and we have no information on anyone named Scott in Mesa with two systems on his pool. It is probable and likely that his systems were manufactured and serviced by I.E.P.S., L.L.C. in Tempe. There were problems with those systems and after that company went out of business in 2007, APJ Corporation acquired the Pool Thing brand name. Unfortunately we appear to have had no contact with Scott of Mesa. If he still has his Pool Thing brand systems and would like service, we would be delighted to hear from him as well as any other Pool Thing brand system owners. APJ can be reached at (480) 922-0484. Please visit our web site at www.poolthing.com.

We regret any unhappy experiences that any Pool Thing brand system owners have experienced either with APJ Corporation or the company that made these systems before 2008. We are anxious to hear from all Pool Thing brand system owners.

#2 Consumer Comment

Interesting

AUTHOR: Roger - Mesa (United States of America)

As a previous consumer of one of these systems, I heard the same spiel. I was also told that my system was manufactured and serviced by  I.E.P.S., L.L.C.  I was also told that the company I.E.P.S., L.L.C. sold inferior products and went out of business.  I was not told however, that the manager of I.E.P.S., L.L.C. (Mr. Alan Auerbach) that sold those inferior products was now president of APJ corporation.  Going out of business as one corporation and reforming as another to mitigate prior transgressions may be legal but it sure qualifies as a shady business practice.  Beware.
