PARKING GARAGE ADVERTISES $14 DAILY/MAX

I parked in the parking garage at 500 16th St., which has a sign that says $14/daily MAX rather than the hotel which wanted $20/day (Hyatt Regency) to save a few bucks.

Parked at 16:24 hours on 12/6/2010  and left garage at 08:54 on 12/8, for a total time in the garage of LESS than 48 hours.

The non-attended garage required payment to get out, so I paid and am disputing it with the manager in Denver.

The FEE was $56.00 for parking.  I'm sorry but this country boy still thinks "daily" is a 24 hour period of time.

DAILY maximum

AUTHOR: Josh - Rolla (U.S.A.)

I'm not sure how it came out to $56; it should have been $42.  However, "daily" generally means per calendar day, not "per 24 hour period."  If it's "per 24 hours," it will not be called "daily."  The parking ticket generally explains the rate structure.  In my experience, the vast majority of parking lots located in downtown areas count calendar days, whereas most airport parking lots charge per 24 hour period.  But in any case, you should have checked the signage once you parked, since many parking lots do not even allow overnight parking, or charge extra for it (this is probably the reason for the higher amount).

By the way, you still saved money.  The hotel's website indicates that it charges $24 per calendar day.  You would have paid $72 if you parked there.

2 or 3 days, yes, but $56 NO

AUTHOR: Bob - Pueblo (U.S.A.)

Dear Josh,
Thanks for your reply.  Agreed if the "daily" meant Calendar day, then 3x14 would indeed be $42, but the signage and the ticket itself said nothing about their definition of day.  It was $4/hr and $14/daily MAX.

Maybe I was naive, and I have been so in the past.

The hotel parking attendant told me personally "$20 a day" so that was my source.

Regardless, the manager has ignored my requests and I am going to dispute all but $28 of the charges with American Express.  They are a reasonable company to do business with IMHO and they allow disputes if you can justify the complaint, which I think I can.
