Sabin Nassif DO NOT RENT AN APARTMENT FROM THIS LANDLORD! Los Angeles, California

This was hands-down the most HORRIFIC rental experience I have ever had. My husband and I rented an apartment in Hollywood from Sabin Nassif which was offered to us by his nephew, Floyd Nassif. What were unaware of was that Floyd had an ulterior motive for offering us an apartment. Lured in by the astonishingly low rent, we took it. Three days after moving in, we fled our apartment out of fear for our lives.

Within two days after our moving in, the locks to our front door had been tampered with and the chain lock had been removed. A drunk and high Floyd was calling me all hours of the night and lurking around our bedroom window. Meanwhile, Sabin was letting himself into the apartment every day when we were away, and once in the early morning while we were still in bed sleeping! He was also harassing us from the second day we moved in because in his mind we hadn't finished moving in fast enough (!). There were many other problems with the condition of the apartment as well, but these were the worst problems that drove us out.

After I was safely out of town, my husband returned to pack our belongings and was literally burst in on by a hysterical Floyd. He repeatedly demanded, "WHERE"S THE GIRL?!" That's when it became crystal clear that Floyd was up to something sinister. We had suspected we were being watched while we were in the unit, and Floyd was openly prowling around our apartment in the wee hours of the night, calling my name. I never went back to the apartment. At great personal expense, we had no choice but to leave the state to stay with family with only the shirts on our backs. In the ordeal, we lost what little money we had on hotels and traveling costs, our possessions, and suffered severe mental trauma.

Sabin Nassif did not allow my husband more than one day to get our things out of the apartment, amidst other malicious, threatening behaviors. He even complained later in letters and in phone messages that Tim had “a black man” with him. He was referring to an African-American acquaintance who was merely in the apartment to help Tim move our belongings out. To add insult to injury, Sabin refused to return any portion of our rent money of $1590 for two months, and he hysterically threatened to kill us numerous times and bragged about knowing people in high places when we demanded it back. Imagine, a self-proclaimed millionaire refusing to cough up a lousy $1590. He even accused me of belonging to a "gang" since I was friends with a "black man"! This is all coming from a man who also claimed to be a Christian. Unbelievable.

Eventually, Sabin Nassif promised to send us a check for the entire amount in a recorded message. But he never sent the check, instead, just a series of long, bizarre letters. Nassif, allegedly a former lawyer, owns multiple properties in the Hollywood, CA area and I seriously caution anyone, especially women, not to rent an apartment from him and especially his nephew Floyd.  I also learned that Floyd has a record of stalking women but his family is wealthy so he may never face the justice he deserves.

NOTE: If you are African-American or Hispanic and you feel that you have been discriminated against by Sabin Nassif as a tenant of one of his properties, I encourage you to file a complaint with the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. From things Nassif told us, he evidently has problems with Hispanic people as well. He admitted to my husband that he evicted some Hispanic tenats because they were in a gang.  (What is this man's obsession with gangs?)  I filed a complaint, and the investigator was prepared to take my side due to the ample amount of evidence I provided, but she ultimately could not because over a year had passed since the incident. But Sabin Nassif now has a file with the department, so if you file a legitimate complaint you stand a good chance of winning.
