Just Brakes #77 destroyed the front struts on my car Chandler Arizona

My husband took the car in to have the brakes done. There was a $99 special going on and he wanted to take advantage of it. The estimate ended up being over $400. He decided not to have the work done so he told them so. There were no other cars in any of the bays except his car. He heard the hood slam closed. Don't know why they were under the hood when only the brakes were to be checked. The next morning on his way to work he noticed the car being extra bouncy in the front. We had it checked out and nothing was found. But an experienced mechanic said somebody obviously used a blow torch to heat up the bar between the struts which will cause them to go bad. He said it is the oldest trick in the book to do and not get caught because there is not proof.
