My husband and I were contacted by Paradise Home Improvement which used to be (Dixie Home Crafters) about repairing the leaking roof on our porch, which has leaked since we had it built.  A nice older gentleman, who was from English decent was the salesman and presented himself as a God fearing Christian, assured us that they would have no problem repairing the roof and guaranteed that it would not leak.  We explained to the salesman that we wer in our 70's on a fixed income and could not afford to be taken advantage of like we were by the ones that added the porch onto the house.  He assured us that we were dealing with a reputable company and we would not have to pay a dime until the work was finished and we were completely satisfied.  A couple of days after signing the contract on 4/10/14 to get the financing started, they called to say they were ready and would have their crew out to get started.

After stalling for various reasons, the crew finally came out and looked at the roof to verify where all the leaks were.  There were also replacement of rotten wood (caused by the leaking) that was to be done.  Not understanding what was to be done and unable to follow the contract, we told him to ger in touch Peter, the salesman, to explain it to him.  They came back a couple of days later and started to work.  They were on the roof for about three hours and wanted me to sign a paper.  I told them I couldn't sign anything until I was sure the roof would not leak.  Peter called and said it was only saying they had completed the work and we would not have to pay untill we were satisfied.  Two days later we had a hard rain and the roof was still leaking, so we called and they sent the crew out and they did some patching the tar and said it would be fine now.  The next rain and it was still leaking.

We called and they came out and did some more patching.  This helped some abut we started having a leak in another spot in the middle of the porch.  It looked as if one of the men had stepped on the plywood in the middle of the rafters and cracked it causing it to leak very bad.  We called them out and showed him and they denied it.  I suggested they try and put some flex seal on it, but that didn't work.  We started to receive payment statement from GE Capital Retail Bank, who I didn't know was to finance this.  After this, I have been unable to get in touch with Peter, the salesman, or Jeff, the manager.  They refuse to return my many calls of which I have dated.  The last time I tried to call and left a message with Peter to call back was on 8/18/14.  We also have a recording of Peter, the salesman, saying that it is a lifetime guarantee and if the porch continues to leak just call and they will be out, no questions asked. He even stated if we had a storm and limb fell on it, they would come out and remove it.

BOTTOM LINE - we still have leaks, and they will do nothing about it.  All we asked Paradise Home Improvement to do was to fix our porch so it would not leak we we could finish and enjoy our porch.  GE Capital Retail Bank (now Synchrony Bank) is doing a investigation on the dispute we have against Paradise Home Improvement.  If this fails, we will have no other choice but to go to the news media or small claims court.  We don't believe in causing trouble to commpanies because we know how hard it is to be successful in this economy,  but we can't pay that kind of money for work that is incomplete.  I agree with the man from Statesville, NC that had the windows an screens installed.  We should all get together and file a class action law suit against them.
