My storm door at the front of my house would not open so I went online and search for a locksmith near my area in Ringwood, NJ. One of the websites provided by Google was: http://www.americaslocksmithservices.com/newjersi/ringwood.html. I called the number they have on their website 862-229-9105 and I had explained my problem with the representative on the phone and had asked for the cost of the services. I was told that their cost was $19.00 plus cost of hardware and labor. Knowing that at Homedepot, a traditional brass stormdoor lock was around $79.99, I know that they would probably charge me around that price for the material so I gave them a go signal to do the job. A few minutes later I had a call from a locksmith at 1-800-LOCKSMITH who had asked me about my lock problem and had asked me to take a picture of the lock. I then received a call back from him and was told that he will be in my house in about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. After about 2 arrived saying that it took him a long time to look for the lock to replace my broken lock. Before he pried the door open, he said that he will be charging me $165.00 as a "LOCKOUT FEE"  and I said it was OK. He then pried the door and then started replacing the broken lock without mentionining anything about the price. When he was done, he did my invoice and I was SHOCKED to find out that my bill totalled $807.50. Here's my bill breakdown:

Service call:                   $35.00

Lockout Fee:                 $165.00

New Lock:                     $375.00 (REALLY?)

Labor and Installation:    $175.00

Taxes:                           $52.50

-----------------------------------------------

TOTAL BILL:                  $807.50

He was in a hurry to leave when I had questioned him about the charges on the invoice. He explained that it took him a long time to look for that lock. I felt obligated to pay him, I should have called the police before I did. but I was forced to sign because he already did the job. I had called the company to complain but they blamed me and suggested that I should have made the locksmith take off the lock if I was not satisfied. I even offered to take the lock off and personally deliver it to them but they said that they will not be able to accept that because they will not be able to re-sell that lock to anyone. I felt like a bigtime fool because although I know something was not right with the whole scenario, I went ahead let him swipe my card. I was also confident that I could call the company back because the company website had the following statement written:

"You may call our professional customer service representatives
anytime at8 62-229-9105. You  will not be disappointed. And
remember, all work is guaranteed to your complete satisfaction and
                no less."

I thought that I could make a complaint and dispute the charges but they gave me the run around. In my rage I went online and searched for reviews on the company and I found this RIPOFF REPORT regarding this company. PLEASE DO NOT USE 1-800-LOCKSMITH. Let this be a lesson to anyone who plans to use them. THEY ARE A SCAM! and I have been SCAMMED.
