on Febuary 9th,2011 i searched for "skydiving in Oregon" on the internet to set up a suprise birthday gift for my fiance. I had found a website that looked to have it all at www.oregonskydiving.com.

They listed all the cities i knew had skydiving services so i thought maybe this was like an answering service they all used. A few years ago i had called one of the somewhat local sky diving facilities and it took the entire day for them to get back to me, so i was really excited to see there was a company that was there to answer the phone.

one of the first questions i asked the salesman who answered the call  (Marcus) was "how much would it be for two people" the answer i got was in the ball park of $200.00 which was pretty reasonable from my past inquiries. He asked what city i was in, and told me that Portland was the nearest drop zone to me. (Portland is 5 hours away) on the website i had noticed that they listed Eugene as a location as well (wich was almost 3 hours closer) so i asked "what about the eugene location? he responded that they were no longer in buisiness.

I also asked if they were a third party company or if they just took care of them? (wanting to make sure i was getting the best price, if they were third party, i would know to try to find a number directly to the company and see who had the best deal.)  his response was "yeah we take care of them."

I went ahead and booked the trip for 2 people in Portland for that weekend and he transferred me over to the confirmation department. There they took my billing and credit card information and told me that i would recieve a call from the drop zone with directions and such. when the lady told me my final price i was caught off guard! The amount had totaled $557.70. I had asked why it was so much more and she replied that it was for "equiptment rentals." since i never had purchased something like this, i bit the bullet and said okay.

she did confirm i was buying 2 non-refundable skydiving tickets. Just hours later i got a call back from them telling me that the guy who does it in Portland had cancelled for the weekend and wanted to know if i would like to reschedule at a later time. I told him that it was a special occasion and would like to do it that weekend, and that if at all possible i would go somewhere else if they could find another drop zone to do it. he said that in Toledo Washington there was an opening for that day, but it was a little more expensive, and that he would have his manager try to get it for the same price for me since it was his mistake (this location was an additional 2 hours away!! ).
They called me back hours later and let me know that they got the same price for me so i was set for the weekend. Now in my excitement, i told everyone at my work what i was doing since it was a done deal. They all had the same response of "why didn't you go to cresswell (eugene)? I told them that i was told: that they were no longer doing it? The response i got was "as a matter of fact they indeed are open and here's their phone number!"

I called and verified they were indeed still open for buisiness and only $198.00 per person equiptment included.

On friday the 11th i got a call from the drop zone in Toledo Washington to give me directions. while I had them on the phone I inqired if I could have called them directly or if going thru where i did was the way they usually set the appointments up?  she informed me that they WERE a third party company and had no idea what they charged. I asked their rates since they were supposed to be more "expensive" than Portland and she told me they were as well in the $200 range. i asked about equiptment rentals and she informed me that they were included in the price she quoted. she also had asked how much we both weighed wich was a question i answered when i spoke with Adventure Sports, i told her i was 160lbs and my fiance was 220lbs. She (drop zone) said that it was $2 per pound over 200lbs. So i said "oh well that must have been the price difference there" she replied "no, that is a fee you pay when you get here, we dont charge that untill you are weighed at the scale on site... they didn't tell you that?" of course my reply was NO!! She said that she was going to contact them and complain because that was something they were supposed to disclose.

The day of our appointment (feb 12th) the drop location called me and let me know they were canceling due to the weather and that she had a long conversation with skyride so hopefully i can get my issue resolved monday morning.

On monday (Feb 14th) i was transferred to Bryan Martin in the confirmation department. I told him how i was mislead from the very begining with asking if they were a third party company and he took my report and said that they would review my calls and get back to me with a resolution later that week, and if there was anything misleading in the phone calls then they would compensate for that.

I contacted Bryan again later that week and he quoted the words stated above with Marcus when I asked if they were a third party company or not. I told Bryan yes, i was asking two different questions and Marcus replied to yes we take care of them not yes we are a third party company! I also pointed out the other facts as well, like the Eugene location was supposedly not in buisiness, which he (Bryan) replied yes he (Marcus) should have told you that we list all major cities, and that is not specifying where the drop locations are. he said that he would let his supervisor know what we had discussed and would again get back to me.

i called Bryan just about every day to check the status of that report, he finally told me that it went to the managers desk and once again he would return my call the second the report hit his desk.

I called the following monday (Feb 21st) to see if any changes were made and he said they should have a decision on it at some point that day and he would call me. First thing this morning (Feb 24th) I called Bryan and he said he got the report and was going to call me today. They did not grant my refund because in a round about way he (Marcus) did not say they weren't a third party company and that Marcus was brought into a meeting and they discussed for future incidents like these that he isa to be very specific and let the customer know that they are a third party company.

I asked Bryan about the other incidents? And he said that nothing was disclosed about them. That he was sory but there was nothing further he could do.

This company is EXTREMLY misleading and give you that "used car salesman" attitude in my opinion. They told me everything i wanted to hear and unfortunatly i did not know any better. now, while i was on hold today while waiting to speak with Bryan, there was a pre-recorded message you hear while waiting of "your buisiness is important to us, if you have any feedback to help us improve please let us know" ... so at the end of my conversation with Bryan I let him know how i thought this was very unfair and not satisfied, and how what was supposed to be a fun purchase had turned into a complete nightmare for me. He replied "im sorry!!!" so  what do they really mean when they want to hear your feedback?!
